Bloomington tonight: a Fleece for Christmas

By: Diane Benjamin

The City of Bloomington voted in July to suspend payments to the County for the Behavioral Health Action Plan starting July 1, 2025: Shared Sales Tax suspended

Why is this payment listed on Bills and Payroll if payments are suspended? Bills and Payroll 12-15-2025

I’d ask but getting an answer is evidently too difficult. I still don’t know how BNWRD bought a property listed as owned by the City of Bloomington: https://blnnews.com/2025/12/13/bnwrd-continued-and-did-unit-5-get-screwed/

Why did an employee get a huge chunk of money for a benefit your employer probably wouldn’t dream of offering, Sick Leave Buy Back: (also on Bills and Payroll)

Meanwhile, the property tax increase discussed previously will be passed tonight: https://blnnews.com/2025/11/25/bloomington-%f0%9f%a4%a6%e2%99%80%ef%b8%8f/

The fix is in. More than one alderman ran for office stating they would reduce property taxes or they avoided an increase last year because of the upcoming election. Like being lied to? The City is holding a Public Hearing at the beginning of the meeting, I expect no one to show up to object.

Also, some states have gas prices below $2.00 a gallon. Illinois never will because everyone in charge has needs and ignore yours. The only bright spot is Illinois is collecting less Sales Tax Revenue as the price here decreases from what it was. Of course, they will need to replace that revenue with something else because people here illegally need funding. (Billions so far)
