Can anyone say after 17 years this isn’t on purpose?
Excerpts:
U.S. Census Bureau data showing Illinois has lost around 420,000 residents since 2020. Recent polling found almost half of all voters insist they would leave the state if they had the chance. Updated annual Census estimates for Illinois and other states are expected later this month.
“We have over 82-line items in our state tax code, the Illinois Department of Revenue, and people in Springfield just keep looking to add more,” he said. “It has gone beyond what our founders intended and the only way to do this is to have a revolution at the ballot box.”

The Illinois exodus is bad but look at the plans of New York City’s Mandami! (Krystal Able’s hero).
See where New Yok and Illinois are headed. Mass Exodus.
*Collectivism will become public policy.
*Identity labels will be treated like moral scores.
*Your group will decide your status and what you owe.
*Policy will be used to punish or reward groups for what they’re believed to have done in the past.
Any reliable figures on any exodus from BN and McLean County during the same time period or any time period that shows a trend?
Not growing
Maybe and maybe not growing ever noticed that when you go into a restaurant today and hear so many patrons speaking Spanish certainly has grown over the years but hey what do I know the 1000 or so students in a school district that has English as a second language subject never had so many before however the parents of these students all work and pay enough taxes to support this growth right but again what do I know!
All I can say as soon as a responsibility changes in my life count me as gone!
Boom town is no more. In the hay day so to speak it seemed like more restaurants were popping up faster than dandelions in April. If it was growing we’d see more higher end restaurants popping up.
I remember the zoning board meetings for the Stark gravel pit located on the SW side of Bloomington and Sandra Scotts eyes popping out with all the future building growth plans. Housing around the pit/lake. Well that all fizzled out and Sandra is oak tree food at Funks Grove and Chicago developer Charles Palmer only has farm ground and property taxes due.
A few weeks ago I was talking with a co-worker about State Farm’s IT and Corporate South. It seem yeah they went south to AZ, TX and GA. Honestly I’m not surprised their Corporate office hasn’t moved too.
I know I keep looking to move. All I see in IL are rising expenses. Last month Frontier said the internet cost is going up $15 a month. There is absolutely no push by this state to deliver high speed internet access to the rural area. I believe my friend living in WI has rural garbage pickup. All we get here are higher county property taxes with no benefits.
Starlink for the rural areas is wonderful.
Yes Starlink seems to be the answer. Several of my neighbors are using Starlink and one is using TMobile. In fact last Saturday I got a flyer in the mail advertising a $50 service credit. I looked and they have reduced their monthly rate that is less than Frontier.
I attended an internet conference with the Community and Economic Development group taking input from rural people about internet access over a year ago. As usual nothing came of it. It looked like a front to me to employ people using federal money is all it was.
Springfield is more concerned about taking care of illegals verses the citizens working and paying taxes that need internet access for employment. A long time ago they should have forced telecommunications companies laying fiber optics for every mile in the populated urban areas they have to do the same for the rural areas. The same for 5G coverage. Verizon over 2 years ago said they would provide 5G and to date it still isn’t available. With 4G I even have cell phone access issues at times. I thought one neighbor said they use voice over IP thru Starlink for cell phone use.
