Sharon Chung: We need FREE child care

By: Diane Benjamin

Just a few months ago mentioning illegal aliens were receiving federal tax dollars outraged the left. I used to be told by left-leaning people that illegal aliens weren’t getting benefits because that would be illegal.

Suddenly, it wasn’t illegal anymore—once there was plenty of proof that illegal immigrants were indeed receiving tax dollars and, worse, stealing even more.

I proved in this story tax dollars are being spent in Illinois on children of illegal aliens: https://blnnews.com/2026/01/22/you-are-paying-child-care-costs-for-illegal-aliens/

Every dollar used for child care in this way means less money available for the children of U.S. citizens. The federal government under Trump actually cares about how money is spent. Illinois received $3 billion in federal child care funding. See this link, it states why the money is frozen: https://www.hhs.gov/press-room/hhs-freezes-child-care-family-assistance-grants-five-states-fraud-concerns.html

If you don’t know the fraud in Minnesota is real, get your news from real media.

Enter State Representative Sharon Chung. She signed a letter along with over 200 legislators across the country demanding the release of the frozen federal money: https://ilhousedems.com/2026/02/05/chung-signs-nationwide-letter-demanding-federal-childcare-funding/

Since that announcement was posted on the Illinois House Democrats website, it is safe to assume all the signers are Democrats.

A link to the letter is included in that announcement. It contains this statement: “The Trump administration is using unfounded and politically-manufactured claims of fraud…”

Neither of those claims holds up when Illinois openly states that immigration status doesn’t matter when it comes to receiving the money.

It gets worse. The letter includes this paragraph:

Sharon Chung and her fellow Democrats want to keep exploding the federal debt to buy votes. Fraud is immaterial. Accountability is not required or expected.

Nothing is free. The signers of that letter want their rabble-rousers to believe it is. Illinois funds are frozen because the Illinois government doesn’t want to be accountable. End of story. Socialism have never worked anywhere. Somebody tell Chung.

What Democrats are demanding is other people’s expenses are paid by those who didn’t incur the expense. It’s a pattern repeated over and over and over.

  1. I am genuinely curious what independent reports could I read/listen to that are not legacy, mainstream, traditional, old, established, or corporate media.

  2. Get government out of child care and cost will be reasonable. Go back to Mothers taking in one or two children to care for along with their own and charging a nominal fee. Many benefits and child care goes down to affordable cost.

    1. Maybe if we got government out of the business of “free care” and the billions of dollars of tax payer fraud that naturally springs up around it, mothers that wanted to stay home and take care of their own kids could afford to.

  3. The Gateway Pundit, Citizen Free Press, and Breitbat internet news sites are my 3 go to sites for news you can trust. I read them daily to be well informed. And, of course, Diane Benjamin keeps us all well informed on the local topics no one else can be trusted to report. It is every patriotic American’s responsibility to be well informed on local and national news.

  4. FYI Democrats or better said Socialists will bury tax payers.

Here’s what our county board super Krystal Able has decided she needs to support.

“Legislation I”ll be working to advance at the State level this session with the Illinois Alliance:

    Reform of Tier 2 pensions
    Rental Affordability and Transparency Act
Paid Family and Medical Leave (HB 3483 / SB 2413)
Prescription Drug Affordability Board (HB 1443 / SB 66)
Expanding and Protecting Immigrant Healthcare for seniors and adults
Responsibility in Firearm Legislation (RIFL Act, HB 3320 / SB 2279)
Water Affordability and Accountability (SB 75)
    Utility Transparency Act (SB 1275)
Residential and Small Business Electric and Gas Market Affordability Enhancements ( HB 4313)
    Funding for Childcare
    Full Funding for Education
    Protecting Medicaid
    Nursing home staffing
    Funding Homecare
And medicaid, Snap, Social Security, and Medicare on the Federal level”

I had AI analyze the costs of these per year to tax payers.
    Policy Midpoint Annual Cost

    Tier 2 Pension Fix $2.5B

Paid Family & Medical Leave $4.75B

    Immigrant Healthcare $0.50B

    Childcare Expansion $0.56B

Full Funding for Public Education $3.0B

    Protecting Medicaid (Dem version) $1.6B

    Nursing Home Staffing $0.75B

    Homecare Funding $1.3B

    Subtotal $14.0B

    Minus PDAB savings –$0.19B

Minus policies with minimal cost (water, energy) –$0.25B

Total ≈ $12.1 billion per year

This is the realistic, middle of the road estimate — not the high end.

    1. Im with you on Chung’s priorities being nuts, and Im generally in favor of conservative positions, but it’s hard to make the case to others that Dems are nuts when a Republican president is doing things that are crazy. Posting an objectively racist video of the Obamas where they are depicted as Monkeys? Demanding that Penn Station in NYC and Dulles airport be renamed after Trump in exchange for releasing already appropriated infrastructure money to blue states? And thats just in the last 2 days!!! It would be much easier to make the case for conservative principles, especially in a blue state like Illinois, if we didnt have a leader doing indefensible, crazy things.

        1. The administration is claiming he wasn’t the one that posted it. I dont think most people are buying that claim. And even if someone else did post it- at the end of the day you are responsible for what is posted in your name and who you give access to your account. Regardless, It is a horrible look, made worse by the fact that Trump personally has not apologized for the post or said he is identifying and firing the person who (supposedly) posted it.

            1. Im just saying……Trump is busy digging Republicans a wide grave for the midterms. People are facing ballooning energy costs and instead of doing anything to lower costs, hes posting blatantly racist videos and trying to extort Congress to rename a train station and airport after him. Its bonkers behavior- the guy isnt right in the head.

And the one economic policy he is most attached to- the tariffs- are driving up the prices of copper, aluminum, transformers, and other materials needed to maintain our energy infrastructure, directly contributing to those rising energy prices. Additionally, he’s doing literally nothing to curb all these AI data centers that are also driving up costs. What a plan for success!

Good luck with the midterms! 🤣😂🤣

              1. Bought gas lately? Pritzker policies drive up costs, not Trump. Grocery prices are dropping because transportation costs are down.

I get the impression you’ve never voted for him and just spew talking points. People remember open borders and Bidenflation.

                1. Not sure what world you’re living in. Average grocery prices in December were up .07%, the largest increase in 2022. Grocery prices are not going down. And just ask people about their electric bills or how they feel a out the cost of living. People are not happy.

But please, keep telling me how everything is great and we should all be thankful to Trump for this “amazing” economy! 😂

But hey, we dont need to take each other’s words about it, the outcome of the midterms in November will provide all the evidence we need to settle this debate about how people are feeling. People vote their pocketbooks after all!

  5. I got my January Ameren electric bill. Can I get that paid for so I can have free electricity to address the affordabilty crisis? Why of course not.

Our country will really be skrewed if the Democrats get control of the House and Senate this year.
All they know is how to spend and tax. If you look back thru history every entitlement program they have started has balooned in cost. The line needs to be drawn before they bankrupt the country and everyone employed paying taxes.

Did you see the outrage when those using SNAP had to seek 80 hours a month employment. OMG the thought of having to work a job. Too many free loaders and not enough people working a job is a big problem.

    1. You’re not wrong. Energy costs are exploding. And Trump’s tariffs are contributing to those rising costs. His tariffs on aluminum, copper, and the materials needed to build transformers are jacking up the costs needed to maintain our infrastructure and deliver electricity to our houses. Energy compaines are passing those costs right along to us. Good job Trump!

Look forward to hearing you try to rationalize your way out of this one. 😂

      1. The tariff on those items pale in comparison to what J.B. Pritzker and the IL Democrats have done to the energy production sources. They whacked cheap sources of energy production for higher cost production, wind and solar which by the way are less reliable. What can’t be sourced from IL the deliverer has to buy it. They bought into the climate change hoax. Wait until those IL data centers come on line. Watch your rates go up even higher.

Maybe you also missed the rate increases for natural gas also coming down the pipeline for IL.

We aren’t paying more for electricity because of tariffs. I know people in WI are paying half or less than what we pay for in IL. Even in other states people are paying less than what we do in IL.

Copper got sucked up for those EV’s as well as other metals.

I can’t get out of IL fast enough! Just another Democrat ***hole!

  6. Lol, for years Timcast leaned left then more right around mid-way through the last Trump campaign. Suspected to be controlled opposition proved it beyond a doubt when he went off on Owens. Lost his objectivity right there. I appreciate objectivity. Although full on, is hard to find.

  7. Sharon Chung is Pritzker’s local sock puppet. She doesn’t even have an opponent. She is that entrenched after only 3 terms.
She will deliver the votes in her district for a solid mandate Pritzker 3rd term.

  8. Anyone living in Illinois should think twice about blaming the current president for the cost of goods and services in this state, prickster and company including your local politicians are the reason you all are paying through the nose to live here. Mostly demoncrats.
And yes the current president has made decisions that I am not happy with but he is doing what he was elected to do clean this country of all dangerous illegal criminals and yes some may not be dangerous but so many bad criminals came with those that weren’t dangerous how do we separate and no I prefer not to wait until that person kills someone or commits a crime.
Wasn’t Sharon Chung the reason those voters in normal still have at large elections for your council representatives meaning you can’t have district representation like Bloomington?
