I’ve been talking to concerned citizens for months about shenanigans with the Logan County Board. Evidently people who can prosecute are refusing, so it’s time to go public. Below is what I’ve been told, Chair Dale Nelson or any other board member is free to dispute this charge.

From a citizen:

I believe Mr. Dale Nelson broke Sect 33-3 (a) (2) when he willingly approved a bonus payment of $1000.00 to Madlyn Hinton. This payment was not authorized by the County Board, Ms. Hinton’s salary was set and bonuses were not part of the arrangement. Furthermore, Mr. Nelson informed the Board of his action in a closed session (illegal closed session) after the fact. To the best of my knowledge the Board has not ratified his actions. I can see nowhere that he had authority to make this payment. Please prosecute.

Of course it isn’t legal to pay people more than authorized just because Nelson thinks he can. What was he buying with that $1000?

Anything else Nelson might be hiding? Do laws matter? Do citizens care? Does the State’s Attorney, Bradley Hauge, care?
