Live in Heyworth?

By: Diane Benjamin

Is Ameren having trouble keeping the power on?

Or, is it just the reader who told me there have been 4 outages in the last 6 days totalling around 9 hours?

Is everyone local back on yet just in time for more storms?

How’s Net Zero working for you?

Meanwhile Corn Belt (for me at least) hasn’t had one outage.

  1. Yes…. Multiple power outages in Heyworth recently. I’m pretty sure the power issues blew one of my breakers and have caused an electrical issue with several of my outlets. No fun! Especially when my power bills are sky high!

  2. People complaining about power outages did not live here as recently as ten years ago when there was only one primary feed to Heyworth that came out of Lincoln. Anytime there was a disruption from there on down the line, Heyworth would be without power sometimes for days. Now, there is a secondary feed on the east side of town (old Illinois Power transmission lines) and when the main line goes down, that feed kicks in and power generally comes back on within a minute. Unless, of course, there are storms that blow down trees and power lines.

  3. The extra power feed has helped in recent years. However, it helped mostly the east side of town. The west end of Heyworth suffers the brunt of all outages in Heyworth. I go way back to when Heyworth generated its own power in what is now village hall.
