Quote from the Springfield City Code:
Elected officers. The city’s elected officers shall consist of ten aldermen to be nominated and elected from ten single-member districts on a nonpartisan basis, and a mayor, city treasurer, and a city clerk to be nominated and elected at large on a nonpartisan basis. Elections shall be conducted in the manner set forth in the settlement agreement.
Springfield had At-Large elections until they were forced by a court to create Wards to better represent citizens. (Take note Normal)
The City of Bloomington failed to hold candidates accountable for running partisan elections 2 years ago. Evidently Springfield did the same thing and now the Democrats don’t even pretend to be nonpartisan.
A candidate named Teresa Tran for Ward 8 decided to run for office. Below is part of a text she received, nonpartisan isn’t close to true:

This is what Bloomington will turn into. City Code doesn’t matter in Springfield and it sure doesn’t matter in Bloomington.

The ongoing Duopoly. Republicans will do the same thing that the Democrats are doing to Teresa Tran in Springfield Illinois.
Tari Renner used to berate the crap out of one particular alderman at public meetings years ago and no one on council stood up for that person. The reign of Renner accelerated the downfall of any respectable politics in this town. Not that it was a beacon of light before that.
