BEC is Sending Mail-In Ballots to Nursing Homes

By: Diane Benjamin

The law permits mailing ballots to nursing homes. The County Clerk’s office does not because of the risk of fraud, especially in dementia units. They send a judge from both parties to each nursing home to supervise voting. This is also called: Common Sense.

The Bloomington Election Commission isn’t doing that. They are just mailing ballots to nursing homes with no accountability for who fills it out. The law thinks it’s fine, of course it is in Illinois. I verified this by phone.

Is it the right thing to do?

The Bloomington Election Commission should have been abolished when the Bloomington residents had that chance. The results are elections in Bloomington will be tainted. They better hope there are no really close results.

This is one more reason to reelect Kathy Michael. She demands not even a hint of fraud in elections her office conducts. Since voters don’t elect anyone at BEC, new leadership can’t be demanded. County residents are stuck paying for their bills though.
