Get facts before approving more Wind Farms

By:  Diane Benjamin

Invenergy wanted to build a wind farm in Livingston County.  The Livingston County Board refused to approve the project.  All of this was very recent.

Being defeated in Livingston County, Invenergy has moved to McLean County to try again.

Before the McLean County Board jumps at yet another wind farm in McLean County, they must look at the same facts that caused the Livingston County Board to reject the Invenergy proposal there.

A large part was played by informed citizens.  They analyzed the Invenergy proposals and pointed out problems, inconsistencies,  and false claims.

You can see some of their findings on this website, including the real financial impact on local government:

This page of the Livingston County website shows the evidence presented by United Citizens of Livingston County in opposition to the project.

http://www.livingstoncounty-il.org/wordpress/county-services/zoning-and-planning/wind-energy-projects/united-citizens-for-livingston-county-uclc/

Evidence was presented (including expert testimony) on noise pollution, property values impact, violation of regional planning documents, violation of zoning regulations, and the impact on wild life.

Considering a majority of the Livingston County Board agreed with the citizens and rejected Invenergy’s proposal, the McLean County Board should examine the same evidence before moving forward.

I will be looking closely at what happened in Livingston County and writing more about it.

  1. That’s not to mention ALL the damage caused to the county roads-ask ANY road commissioner IF the wind farm companies fixed the roads after their LAST round of blacktop destruction. Also, they get built by Portuguese and sold to Brazilians or vice-versa, then sold at A LOSS, then the taxes are less.
