Covering one thing in Normal only because a reader found it important

By: Diane Benjamin

A total of 1,609 scientists, professors and other scholars have signed on to a new declaration that argues there is no climate change crisis. https://www.thecollegefix.com/more-than-1600-scientists-and-other-scholars-sign-no-climate-emergency-declaration/

That didn’t stop Normal City Manager Pam Reece telling WGLT Normal has been affected by Climate Change: https://www.wglt.org/local-news/2023-09-22/climate-change-impacts-noticeable-in-bloomington-normal

Reece claims the trees were affected by heat and drought. Refer back to this 2019 story where Normal planted a bunch of trees and didn’t properly care for them so most died: https://blnnews.com/2019/08/05/more-from-the-normal-foia-dead-trees/

Pam needs to see this NOAA story: https://www.ncei.noaa.gov/news/warming-earth-also-wetter-earth

Yes it was dry – until we got 5 inches of rain.

Like every good leftist, Reece had to play the race card. Read the story.

The discussion revolved around Normal’s sustainability plan that is being updated. I wonder if Reece knows resurfacing streets with black coatings hold more heat than concrete. Even though they are smoother than the horse trail concrete streets, if Normal actually believed in doing anything about heat they wouldn’t use it. It’s a secret but they require fossil fuels – Shhhh.

The first paragraph is misleading since NOAA was founded in 1970. They didn’t create 174 years of data. They do have the following chart though that clearly shows 1936 and 1934 were hot years. Nobody claimed Climate Change then!

Climate Change propaganda is nothing more than a money grab. The temperatures always change from year to year. Don’t forget this madness started with Global Cooling, then Global Warming, and now Climate Change which is meaningless but covers both.

One more NOAA pic for the Climate pushers in Normal: https://www.ncei.noaa.gov/access/monitoring/monthly-report/national/202308

From 1895 to 2023 it shows temperatures across Illinois were “near average”:

  1. how much heat does an electric car produce while charging? while running? how much water is trapped in bottles when not consumed all the way and thrown in the trash? how much heat is produced by all the homeless people loitering in “uptown” normal? how much water is consumed by the 1,000’s of protected geese in normal? and guess what, global warming is exactly that (1 deg in aggregate over 100yrs thats pretty bad!) global…so chinas 30 extra coal plants being built to keep up w electric car production demands doesnt matter…only their little bubble matters…liberal idealism is a mental disorder.

  2. I think the Climate Change agenda is about one thing and one thing only……a power grab. More control over the masses. The movements real leadership are not liberal ideologues or the mouthy frontmen that get press coverage. They are leftist globalist that use every means possible to gain more and more control over our lives. Covid was another brilliant move on their part. They had most of the developed world jumping through hoops….. Mass immigration from the third world has Europe on the ropes and soon the U.S. too. Think that’s just a coincidence??? Power baby power!!!!

  3. It’s good to know that Pam now knows that it’s cooler in the shade than in the sun! Hopefully she knows enough to come in out of the rain. Maybe just buy everyone in Normal an umbrella Pam, that will solve two problems.

Recent droughts and flooding in Normal? When and where? I heard that the crops are going to be pretty good this year even despite 24/7 drought fear mongering that has some in a tizzy.

How many trees do we need, when and where will they be planted? How much will it cost and who will pay for them to insure that the city will be 40 degrees cooler in the summertime? Or is this just a virtuous thought that comforts the weather terrorized? But asking questions is not something Pam takes kindly to. In her world our only value is to write a check when we are told to.

  4. Pam Reece parrots and enforces Democrat Party platforms. Blaming her staff’s incompetent planting and maintenance techniques on “climate change” is par for the Democrat course. According to Pam, government can do no wrong. Remember, the government imported and planted honey-suckle which is now killing the native flora.

  5. Some taxpayer funded employee took temperatures of asphalt? Just remember that when your over inflated tax bill shows up!

  6. During the most recent rain storm Town employees were seen watering the parkway on Broadway Pl. One of the neighborhood residents also saw the Town employee watering the bottom leaves of the trees. This wasn’t the first time the water truck arrived during a rain storm. I’d like the Town to explain how this is a good use of our natural resources if they are worried about climate change?
