County Board – Part 1

By: Diane Benjamin

Quite a show last night! Two hours of liberals calling Chuck Erickson all kinds of names, claiming the ordinance was an election stunt, and spouting false information about what the ordinance would have done. All it said is TAXPAYERS (you) won’t be forced to pay for housing and food for illegals who arrive on buses from other cities.

The two hours proved leftists expect government to handle everything for them, it does not matter how much money it takes or how incompetent they are as they spend other people’s money. Most of the speakers do not want the responsibility of freedom.

They was a tiny handful of thinking people who were glad to topic was even being discussed. The only thing Chair Catherine Metzker did right was begin Public Comment by suspending the rules which allowed over 45 people to speak. Free speech makes it easy to hear all sides and then make informed decisions. The “dis” and “mis” information was rampant and extremely entertaining.

Instead of naming names I’m just going to list the talking points that stood out to me.

The local Communist Party was against the ordinance, so was a self identified socialist.

At least 4 “pastors”, three of them women, quoted Bible passages. Old Testament passages were used by some, I wonder if they know God told the Children of Israel entering the promise land to KILL everyone who lived there. He didn’t want the false religions of the inhabitants to corrupt HIS people.

Of course all the rules changed in the New Testament with Jesus. The “pastors” quoted from him too but they twisted words to imply government needs to follow his teachings. Jesus was talking to his followers, he never told the Roman Empire to house and feed anyone. His command to Love Your Neighbor As Yourself was a direct command to individuals, not government. The 3 females are also ignoring what the Bible says about female teachers. Sorry ladies, fads change but the Bible can not be re-written to fit your agenda.

Some speakers mentioned the County has money. If that was true, why are people living in tents in downtown Bloomington?

Others said immigrants pay a lot of taxes but local large companies don’t pay their “Fair Share”. One wanted Rivian taxed, they have to make a profit first! ”Fair Share” is a meaningless term because it’s never defined. It must mean whatever we tell you to pay – as in all your profits.

I will name one guy: Anthony Crispin. He was absolutely correct and didn’t realize it. He stated immigrants work for less money and benefits. That is true, it also decreases pay and takes jobs from lower income Americans especially in Illinois were minimum wage is too high for small employers to pay it. If an illegal will work for less the illegal gets the job. You can see his comment at 1:24:30

Representatives from the local ACLU, Immigration Project, League of Women Voters, and Not IN Our Town were all against the ordinance. Send the busloads to them since they are so passionate about welcoming them.

Many stated there is no proof the illegal immigrants are a problem. Chicago anyone? New York? New York is now busing illegals to Chicago. Some stated immigrants commit fewer crimes. See this one of many links for what’s happening in Chicago: https://www.cbsnews.com/chicago/news/chicago-west-loop-crime-drug-dealing-homeless-encampment/

I don’t remember any of the speakers using the word “illegal”. This parade of liberals is why Illinois now has No Cash Bail. Criminals have more rights than citizens. Illegals really aren’t illegal.

More than one person mentioned the aging population and the need for younger workers. Illinois kids go out of state to college and stay there – it’s cheaper, other states have more opportunities than Illinois and lower taxes. No young person sees Illinois as a long term place to live thanks to Illinois government.

You can scan the first 2 hours and listen to people you know. Supporters of the ordinance barely showed up. That is why McLean County will turn blue. Nobody knows thinking people exist. Stay tuned for part 2.

  1. I also sensed a kind of joy that filled the room. Full of smiling, winking, bobbing heads. There was pompousness and glee as the mob one after another posed, scowled and yelled at their neighbors and representatives calling them racist, xenophobic and bound for eternal punishment if they dared to stand up against them. They must have left the room pumped up knowing how much better and how holy and righteous they are.

Few, including myself sadly, had the courage to stand in the middle of the mob and express our concern that we are not being compassionate, loving or righteous when we tell people, “come to our home, we’ll give you everything you need”, but have no idea how we can really keep that promise. Theirs is a kind of foolishness that is cruel because it’s only self serving. It makes them feel virtuous if only for a moment. That’s all that they were there for.

  2. what a shit show, when these supporters get diseases, robbed, raped, taxed higher etc because of the decisions they make and the madness they support then maybe, doubtful, but maybe they will see the light. Liberalism is a mental condition and their actions prove it!

  3. We need to gather addresses of the local leftists, communists, socialist, & marxists. Hand out the list to every illegal alien. I’m sure their doors will be open to house them.
