Members of the McLean County Democrat Party on the County Board are proposing new rules for meetings and members. The new Public Comment policy allows citizens to sign up at least 15 minutes before meetings. However, the allotted time is still only 15 minutes, which is ridiculous for a county as large as McLean. People should not have to identify the agenda item they want to comment on. This means that non-agenda commentators have to wait until the end of the meeting to speak. Although it is a legal policy, this demonstrates that listening to citizens is a low priority.
See the proposed change on PDF page 13: https://www.mcleancountyil.gov/ArchiveCenter/ViewFile/Item/10008
The prosed changes include a new section that allows members to weaponize service on the Board against other elected board members: (PDF page 4)

This is why we aren’t a democracy. The far-left Democrats are planning on taking over majority control of the Board after the November election. The majority will make up rules to silence any opposition by calling it ‘disgraceful.’
Members facing censorship are ineligible to vote on the censure! Chuckle now. Democrats won’t have to wait until the next election.
The current Board consists of 10 Democrats and 10 Republicans. The Democrats can label any Republican as ‘disgraceful,’ prevent them from voting, and easily secure a censure, as all 10 toe the party line. Moderate Democrats were ousted from the party in favor of authoritarians, so they will likely vote to censure. The liberal media will run endless stories about the censure without reporting the truth. Chuck Erickson will probably be their first target.
If Democrats genuinely believe rules are needed, the vote to censure should require a 2/3 majority of those present, not just a simple majority. Ever heard of the ‘Tyranny of the Majority’? If not, you can learn about it here: https://www.masterclass.com/articles/tyranny-of-the-majority-explained
Opposition to these changes should be fierce – they are ridiculous. Property Committee meets at 5:00

It is suspicious the Rules Committee is meeting after the Property Committee since the members are different. The Rules Committee is chaired by a democrat:
Chair Elizabeth Johnston, Vice Chair Jim Soeldner, Members: Chuck Erickson, George Wendt, Lea Cline and Val Laymon
If you can’t attend, email them and tell them you don’t want the County Board weaponized! Contact information: https://mcleancountyil.gov/Directory.aspx?DID=11
Thanks to Krystle Able for revealing who wrote the changes:

This is just one more vital reason why we as Citizens of McLean County and those Republican/Conservatives/Libertarians (if you want government out of your lives) must not only vote this March 19 and November 5. But must vote for candidates that are NOT willing to restrict free speech and take away the Representation that the voters chose.
Vote and vote for candidates that want the citizens to have a voice. Not George Soros or Pritzker. But if last election showed anything, lack of interest by McLean County in saving our community. This has got to be changed. Can the Republican Committee make a difference?
I haven’t really seen anything about the 80 Republican judges needed for McLean county that we are short right now or the Bloomington election board that is in need of Republican judges also. Not to mention all the precincts that have Democrats posing as Republicans everywhere. It’s like a a major virus outbreak and the doctor is playing with the candy jar full of “fentanyl lollipops” like the ones we gave soldiers with gunshot wounds back in the old days. The adults with influence have all left McLean County to fend for themselves, wrote it off.
Making it easier to Eliminate the voice of elected officials that disagree during debate is worse than silencing the citizen. Because, the elected official, represents a large amount or numbers of citizens. Usually their fellow neighbors that voted for them to represent their interests. So, having Liz, Corey, Jack and Krystle “censure” the board members more easily, while feigning hurt feelings for “vigorous debate” which is protected under numerous Supreme Court decisions and actually expected to occur while “arguing” facts. But the left enjoys feigning outrage, fear and pain when confronted by logic, truth, and facts that defy their caustic arguments for emotional necessity, governments role as the only answer, and increasing the role or authority of their position in authority.
While Outside in parking lots, private homes and businesses away from the media and camera or restrictions of the government offices, courthouse or publicly owned property they organize with the help of the radicalized leadership of public sector unions and their war chest of funds siphoned off of mostly unwilling participants or closed shop workers forced to support the radical leftist agendas of the leadership. Hushed into silence for fear of being blacklisted or worse!! They also spend time with all the news outlets, creating narratives that are, oddly, identical between a vast number of media groups.
But, none of Dems lead by Liz have ever gathered together in enough numbers to reach a quorum. Nope. That would be against the Illinois Meetings Act.
Not gonna happen. Need 11 votes to pass anything. No R is going to sell out on this .. right ?
Election is in November. If you don’t want a wackco socialist/lib/dem county board running YOUR county , just be sure to have you and your friends vote R in the November general election.
Don’t feel like doing that ? Then you’ll get the government you DESERVE.
Elections most assuredly have consequences.
Did you see GOP voted with Dems on illegal immigration?
I agree Diane, this initiative is a reaction to Chuck Erickson’s illegal immigration declaration. It’s just a little more power for the “Shut up or be shut up.” crowd. Beirne has shown his disrespect for others too many times. He might want to think twice about something like this.
