Evidently many people wanted to speak at Public Comment last night concerning the LRS/Henson transfer station. They were not allowed to speak, Chair Catherine Metsker explained why at 5:35.
Jackie Beyer was allowed to speak. She gave a first hand account of what happened at the Rules Committee and the Executive Committee meetings which led to the revised Public Comment rules not on last night’s agenda. Jackie should be awarded citizen of the year because of her tireless efforts to make local government legal and transparent. Listen:
There was another Public Comment at the end of the meeting you need to hear by Kim Miller. Her comment was about the last meeting where bleeding heart liberals showed up en masse to oppose Chuck Erickson’s Immigration Services Resolution. According to Kim they were all played because the County has an unannounced plan to transfer any illegals dropped here to Chicago. She received that information from several board members in response to her emails. Evidently the rabble-rousers (Able, Beirne) knew that before their “call to action”, they just neglected to inform their flock. Listen:
That doesn’t explain why government funding to the Immigration Project went from receiving less the $600,000 a year in taxpayer money for 2017 and 2018 to over $2,000,000 in the last year available – 2021. Anyone think it isn’t much higher by now? Why does this local group need that much money if illegals aren’t being settled here? https://blnnews.com/2024/02/12/the-immigration-project-you-dont-know/
The discussion about “adopting the findings” for the LRS/Henson transfer station starts with Susan Schafer stating why she will vote no. See 37:42. Schafer was followed by Natalie Roseman-Mendoza, also voting no. The Board approved it anyway 11-6.
Entire meeting:

I agree, Jackie Beyer for Citizen of the Year! Thank you, Jackie for your concise and direct comments to the board.
Thank you Jackie and Kim. Both excellent comments. However, considering the fact that Unit 5 alone has 1000 students who do not speak English, unfortunately illegal aliens are already living in Bloomington Normal. They probably receive our tax money through the Federal Government handouts which covers housing, school, medical, etc. It is my hope that the Sheriff of McLean County notifies ICE to have them deported.
