Two things I wish I had pics of

By: Diane Benjamin

I get tips frequently, mostly people forget to take pictures or aren’t able because they are driving. If you can stop and get a picture, please do! Visual is always better.

1)

With the severe winds over the weekend I hear the tent city in downtown Bloomington had garbage blowing everywhere. A dumpster is on site, it must be too difficult to use.

Bloomington needs to solve the homelessness problem downtown before spending millions.

2)

A reader saw an electric Connect Transit bus being towed at the corner of Locust and Clinton yesterday. The temperature was 72 at the time. (FOIA filed) I’m told the tow truck was huge.

How many people were late “getting where they want to go” because the bus broke?

Wirepoints as been documenting the problems with electric buses, this article is their latest: https://wirepoints.org/government-splurging-on-electric-school-buses-even-as-reports-of-their-problems-soar-wirepoints/

  1. “How many people were late “getting where they want to go” because the bus broke?”

The driver, as I’m sure it was empty, based on my observations of the empty buses around town. 🙂

  2. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣you just cant make this stuff up about the buses, who saw that one coming

  3. The Connect Transit Board is either incompetent

    or –

    they are corrupt.

The entire board should be replaced by transportation and planning professionals.
Based on their backgrounds it appears that they are just politically connected grifters.

Better still for the taxpayers , the size and scope of the entire program should be reimagined with the actual needs of citizens and our communities infrastructure factored into route and vehicle choices.

  4. The bus may be broken but I’ll bet the union driver still gets paid! Let’s face it, EV buses are taxpayer liabilities. But disconnect is stupid enough to keep using them. What is the definition of insanity?
