Re-Submit witness slip opposing HB 4198

By: Diane Benjamin

HB 4198 is one giant step towards Illinois becoming an ALL VOTE BY MAIL state.

HB 4198 provides that each election authority may decide to mail a LIVE vote by mail ballot to all qualified voters instead of sending notices and applications for permanent vote by mail status. A person who has never voted before may not be sent a vote by mail ballot until that person has provided the election authority with sufficient proof of identity and the election authority has verified the person’s proof of identity.  Presumably, some Election authorities may decide to continue running elections the way they have been doing. Thus, resulting in unequal treatment based on where someone lives. More importantly, vote by mail is the least secure way to vote!

I don’t know why these have to be submitted again, but they do.

  1. The State of IL approved my mom for Safe Driver Renewal so she can renew her drivers license online without going to the DMV. She is 77, wheelchair bound, doesn’t have a car, and hasn’t driven in about 5 years. But do you know what they asked when she renewed? Does she want to register to vote.

  2. They most likely trashed a bunch of them (intentionally) calling for a re-submit hoping they’ll receive less this time.
