Congrats to Connect Transit

Congrats to Connect Transit for figuring out a way to be transparent. I don’t know if this is a permanent change or only because Tim Gleason was attending remotely.

What they accomplished was getting slides and remote speakers on the video instead of just on the screens in the room that can not be read or seen by anyone not in the room. Example:

One problem though, the posted video does not start at the beginning of the meeting. Looking the agenda I think the video starts somewhere in F – Committee reports: https://connect-transit.com/file/2262/03%2026%202024_BoT%20Meeting%20Packet.pdf

The Board is close to going live with the campaign to make you love them. Watch for testimonials from riders.

One glaring problem is the monthly losses – February was $1,373,751. (PDF page 7) No testimonials praising transportation will erase that deficit charged to taxpayers and the empty buses that will be wrapped so you can’t see few or none are on it.

See PDF page 9:

Fixed Route ridership is distorted by any riders who must take 2 different buses to get where they are going. To and from counts as 4 rides instead of 2.

The downtown Bloomington transfer station is moving ahead with the Market Street garage. The Bloomington City Council will hear details at the April 15th meeting.

No surprise, the out of service electric buses weren’t mentioned.

Everybody gets to ride for free on Earth Day – April 22nd.

Chris Koos will get to appoint another Board member because Tim McCue is moving out of town. Of course the Council will rubber stamp whoever he picks.

You can’t watch the whole meeting, but below is what you can:
