Tonight: Beginning of the End for Market Street Garage

By: Diane Benjamin

Tonight Bloomington finally gets to destroy the Market Street garage. The documentation doesn’t say where people parking there now will park during construction of Connect Transit’s transfer center and new parking garage.

The documentation claims the City has spent $870,000 in the last 5 years fixing the garage. Is the grant going to cover everything after $452,178? That remains to be seen.

The Transfer Center is the only item on the regular agenda. See other items that won’t be discussed here: https://d3n9y02raazwpg.cloudfront.net/cityblm/f71f038c-5bbe-11ee-ae13-0050569183fa-d854eb82-3702-4140-9de6-ac3a8e3f379d-1724443621.pdf

The Finance Director’s report will be the longest part of the meeting unless Public Comment draws a crowd.

  1. Normal has a grossly expensive bus stop so Bloomington better build one.

Is it true Bloomington is planning a pedestrian underpass under Madison Street to access the arena?

  2. You have to have an expensive transfer center for all of those empty buses constantly circling the city to pretend that they are really needed. When will taxpayers stand up to the almost 1 million loss each month by Connect Transit. Its our money being “pissssssed” away.
