Are the 6 new officers going to be terminated when the grant money runs out? The story doesn’t say. The story claims growth means the Town needs more officers.

Keep in mind ISU students that aren’t here all year are included in population numbers.
Compare the 2010 population with 2024. The numbers have barely changed.
That means crime is the problem, not population. One fact that nobody will mention.
Is all the growth in Bloomington?
The population of Bloomington was higher in 2020 than now. Inconvenient fact!
ISU has their own police department.
It also makes me ask the question, where were they (ISU Police) on Saturday? Why wasn’t the State Police called in or the Sheriff’s department or the National Guard? This wasn’t the first incident. There is also a SWAT TEAM. Oh yeah, our Mayor is in charge, silly me.
Quick and EZ was robbed of liquor, caseys was robbed of liquor and I just had a customer tell me that his brothers girlfriend that works at a gas station on rabb road had someone fire a shot inside her store.
I understand that the Pantagraph has not reported any of this because there is no police report. What we do know via a video was that there was a huge crowd of what appeared to be younger individuals crowded around the quick and ez store in Normal even see a young lady twerking on the hood of a car. Some estimated the crowd in excess of 500 individuals.
And sadly 2 young 18 year olds shot at 3 or 3;30 in the morning with one dying.
But the police and the mayor had no idea on how to handle this mess!!!
Not too long ago we were talking about defunding the racist police. The law of unintended consequences comes home to roost.
hopefully the 6 new hires won`t run away from a riot, like they did at Target
