Maybe this will help:

.
Rob Fazzini is the former Bloomington alderman who claimed gas taxes don’t raise the price of gas. He stated that to justify a Bloomington gas tax. Before Fazzini a local gas tax didn’t exist. https://blnnews.com/2014/01/27/culture-tales-bloomington-council-retreat/
Below are the facts, local gas taxes are not included in these numbers.
Average gas prices: https://gasprices.aaa.com/state-gas-price-averages/
Gas Tax by state: https://taxfoundation.org/data/all/state/state-gas-tax-rates-2024/
Illinois: $3.502 – Gas tax $ .665
Iowa: $2.999 – Gas tax $ .30
Indiana: $3.259 – Gas tax $ .517
Missouri: $2.851 – Gas tax $ .2497
Wisconsin: $3.079 – Gas tax: $.329
Obviously Rob is wrong about gas taxes. He is also wrong to remove your right to vote for an elected representative. Sharon Chung made sure Normal would never have the elected officials incorporated town law requires by sponsoring a special bill that only applies to Normal.
Don’t forget Fazzini also wanted to be a super alderman. https://blnnews.com/2013/11/04/fazzini-hijacks-bloomington-because-he-can/
Can you guess why the left wants to eliminate your right to vote for your representatives?
Ask them.
If you didn’t remember, this is the second attempt at eliminating the elected auditor: https://blnnews.com/2019/10/13/fazzini-to-announce/
The Bloomington Election Commission is what needs eliminated.

THANK YOU for this post!!
A couple of days ago, I quickly looked at the sample ballot on the glass at the mall. A person standing near by was asking a general question about what we were voting on for the Auditor. I thought it was clear that they are asking us if we no longer want to VOTE for this position…. because it will be appointed instead. So I pointed out to the other person looking at the sample ballot = They are NOT asking us if we want to eliminate this position. They are asking us to give up our ability to VOTE for the position.
My point here is that – there are voters who will be confused by the Auditor question =(
All 10 Republicans on the County Board also supported the referendum to eliminate the auditor. This is a non partisan referendum.
Because they know the office holder should have been gone long ago.
Bloomington-Normal: The regurgitation capital of the Midwest. Fazzini: If only BN was more like Chicago where I came from.
This is not about having an Auditor.
This is about the ‘elites’ not liking who the Auditor happens to be.
They/Them have tried repeatedly to beat her at the ballot box. They cut her salary.
The other stale career politicians mean girl her behind her back. Yet she still persists.
Democrats hate her because she is a Republican. Republicans hate her for not being ‘controllable’
Fact : If the current Auditor were a Whiskey Dinner pal of the so called ‘elites’ this issue would not even be on the ballot.
