Excerpt:
The Federal Transit Administration (FTA) issued a warning Wednesday about 483 electric transit buses being recalled over safety defects, according to a safety advisory.
Phoenix Motorcars is voluntarily recalling Proterra 800V catalyst vehicles from 2020 to 2021 and ZX5 Proterra transit buses from 2020 to 2022 over concerns that they could be prone to catching fire, according to an advisory from the FTA. The vehicles were first recalled by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) in September over issues with their radiator fan electrical circuits overheating, which is a potential fire hazard, according to a Sept. 5 report.
Since Proterra is bankrupt, recalled for what? Being a fire hazard isn’t the only problem with electric buses.

Hearings have been held in Springfield where transit authorities want more funding.
Connect Transit’s David Braun is quoted:
David Braun, the managing director of the transit system in Bloomington-Normal, said that without that support, his agency could be forced into a “contraction era.”
“People that have become dependent on us have chosen where to live based on the service we provide and if we start pulling back service, if we have to contract – and all of us will have to contract to be below what the downstate operating fund can provide – then that will suppress the growth of our communities, it will suppress residential building, it just becomes a chilling effect all through downstate,” Braun said.
Braun admits they created dependents!
MILLIONS of dollars were thrown away on electric buses. Connect had to pull OLD buses out of mothballs to have enough buses. Meanwhile ridership is below last year. Maybe dependents don’t really want to be slaves to a bus. Taxpayers should be outraged their money was tossed on yet another federal program that doesn’t work. Remember Solyndra?

My favorite electric bus sits on the east side of Carlock with weeds all around. A great monument to the failure of the “green” movement…
Solar Farms the next big money funnel…along with C02 Sequestrian and pipelines…
Funny how families get rich in Central Illinois (quite the legacy) calling it green/workforce and economic dev and sustainability.
