Unit 5 Staff Only meetings: 1% Sales Tax

H/T a reader:

Why are “staff only” meetings scheduled?

Isn’t everything “staff” needs to know on the website? https://april1cent.info/

We still don ‘t know who paid for that site, WGLT forgot to ask. https://www.wglt.org/local-news/2025-02-11/complaints-filed-over-alleged-political-advocacy-on-school-sales-tax-informational-website

I filed a FOIA this morning on the meetings. Sometimes I get a same day response from Unit 5. It appears this FOIA won’t be one of those:

  1. So staff only? What happens if 100+ parents, taxpayers show up wanting to attend? Or even just one! Can they deny them entrance to a public building?

Use of government buildings, resources, staff for the promotion of referendums is electioneering.

Perhaps candidates should show up and handout literature to make it fair.

Are the Teachers Unions and Democrats using the playbook of making the Grade schools (friendly and safe locations) (hospitals as shields)strategy? Passive/Aggressive is their favorite tactic anyway.

    1. the staff meetings are virtual like Diane said, but either way – of course they can deny entrance to a school. Imagine if they had to let any taxpayer in at any time, that would be absurd.

      1. I would like to know how any taxpayer can be denied entrance to meetings where taxpayers fund the buildings and the salaries. So isolate the taxpayers but turn around and ask the taxpayers for more money. How’s that going to go?
