Since Chemberly Harris has little money for her mayoral campaign, I haven’t paid any attention to what she’s doing. https://www.illinoissunshine.org/committees/39918/
Then yesterday a reader told me I needed to see the video she posted to Facebook. I taped a little of it, see her whole video here: https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=61563272094358
Harris claims while out campaigning she knocked on a door where a person(s) inside the house was enraged to see a black woman on their doorstep.
What’s the address Chemberly? Did you notify Not In Our Town? I wonder what the other 2 mayoral candidates think: Chris Koos and Kathleen Lorenz?
Harris singlehandedly made Normal look like a place minorities should avoid. Is that what you intended Chemberly?

I’m an almost 60yo black dude. I’ve never thought it racist. Been treated well everywhere I’ve been here for entertainment and work.
How does she know it was based on race? Maybe they were enraged to see another politician wanting to raise their taxes.
She goes on to talk about equity
I’d like to know how she defines Equity.
Maybe they don’t like fat people
That’s uncalled for. . . She’s not fat nor would it matter if she was, especially to you. Trump isn’t petite or slim and you all hound over him.
That’s in your misguided little peabrain head. People don’t hound over Trump or think he is the Messiah. Quite simply Trump was a better choice than the continued destruction of America compliments of the Obama/Biden/Harris regime. Quit your cryin’ and grow up.
@JEFF – I agree, this would seem more likely.
The property tax increases across McLean County make me enraged!
Or maybe Ms Harris has been talking with the Bloomington Police Chief
= Mr “Arrest more white people”
Make everything about race…. UGH!
Ummmmm Chemberly is running for Mayor of Normal, she is a Normal resident, she serves for Normal. . . Do you get what I’m saying. . . That she probably doesn’t hit up the Bloomington police chief?
She’s a liar. This never happened. Just a typical race baiter.
She probably thought “No Soliciting” sign didn’t apply to her. Several campaigners have been unceremoniously told to get off my porch. I didn’t keep tabs on race because that wasn’t the issue!
No soliciting doesn’t apply to campaigning, that is fully constitutional and also isn’t qualified as soliciting because it’s not selling anything.
Also, if I can ask, why are you against canvassing? You don’t have the time to meet with any local politicians? Perhaps, if you’re angry with the government, it’s because you shut yourself in an echo chamber where you complain without productive action. Meet with some politicians, maybe run yourself, just get involved civically.
If there is an issue with answering the door and having a conversation then you shouldn’t be calling anyone but yourself close-minded.
Where exactly is that in the constitution?
The First Amendment of the U.S. Constitution protects political canvassing as a form of free speech.
Here’s an excerpt that supports its legality:
First Amendment (1791): “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.”
This guarantees individuals the right to engage in political speech, including canvassing, distributing campaign materials, and discussing political issues door-to-door.
The U.S. Supreme Court has upheld this protection in cases such as Watchtower Bible & Tract Society v. Village of Stratton (2002), ruling that requiring permits for door-to-door advocacy is unconstitutional.
Nice history rewrite. It doesn’t give you the right to trespass
Girl the Constitution and SCOTUS literally proves it’s not trespassing. Perhaps if you knew the law you wouldn’t have lost an election.
Pretty stupid to knock on a door with a sign that says ayes they don’t want you opinion
It’s not an opinion, it’s a meet-the-candidate or their representatives. Wouldn’t you want to know who could be representing you? Secondly, no soliciting doesn’t mean they don’t want your opinion as soliciting doesn’t mean opinion.
Rights end when they infringe on somebody else. No soliciting means No knocking on the door.
Okay, so you are all about the fine print of the law when you are crying over a Cody Hendricks for Mayor sign placed on Veterans Parkway, but when the law, constitution, and Supreme Court literally say political Canvassing isn’t soliciting you turn your head? Diane, seriously, use your head and admit when you’re wrong.
Supreme Court NEVER said candidates can force anyone to listen Too difficult for you to understand?
Silus – While soliciting votes is a form of protected speech, when someone has a “No Soliciting” sign it is best to respect private property rights and avoid confrontation.
Unless confrontation was the point of the visit. Remember we’ve only heard one side of the story.
Per Town of Normal code
Must cease solicitation upon owner or occupant request
I know Chemberly personally…she’s got a very skewed view of the world. We’ve worked together over years in the past and you would be surprised, amused, and saddened by the innermost thoughts she’s shared with me. She thinks that everyone is racist, lol. Especially when things don’t go her way. Mind you, someone doesn’t have to actually demonstrate real racism. In her mind, if you have slighted her or even just disagreed with her she will find you to be racist. She even told me, lol, and this is one story amongst many – that her previous neighbors were racist and trained their dog to also be racist – simply because she thought the dog only barked at her and her husband (ex now, wonder why lol).
I doubt this thing she’s claiming is real or true except in her own deluded mind. We really need to not have this kind of person as a public servant. She 100% will only bring division and strife to anywhere she serves. Seen it firsthand.
I’m sorry, but for someone who claims to know her “personally” you seem to hide your identity. . . I’m calling BS.
There is no way this happened. And is it possible that someone was pissed because someone was on their porch? But always looking to be a victim….
. . . Always looking to victim blame. . .
Well I only have 3 people to choose from. Now she is making sure I don’t choose her. Why? Because she’s black??? Of course not. I pushed hard for Mboka to be elected Mayor of Bloomington. I ran and paid for commercials at Cities using my voice to push for the conservative vote for Mboka. It’s not because of skin color. It’s because she is immature. Only a child would act the way she did in that video. I expect more from a grown woman. A junior high school girl acts the way that Chemberly acted in that video. You don’t take to live fb to whine and race bait. It’s her alibi. She is going to lose and she is setting the stage for why. Truth is she is unfit and citing the color of her skin as the reason why is emotionally and mentally bankrupt which I expect nothing less from a liberal. She should find something she is good at it and do it. Being a leader is not it.
Cory Beirne endorsed her is another reason
Well when she comes to my door I will tell her she got the endorsement of a sexual deviant and that’s why she’s getting off my lawn NOT because of her tan.
I firstly have some questions: you say you’re going to tell her to get off your lawn when she’s at your door? Have you not a porch?
Also, being endorsed by someone isn’t relevant to who they actually are. Tiger King endorsed Trump. Also Corey Beirne isn’t a “sexual deviant”, for the record, have some respect.
Just making sure I have this right: she was racially profiled and talked about it, so you swore to not vote for her. You say she’s establishing an “alibi” yet sentences before you established your own alibi with the centuries old “I’m not a racist because [insert a time where you helped or had a relationship with someone who was black].”
If you’re defensive against somebody else being a racist and quick to jump on the boat of victim-blaming, perhaps you aren’t spotless?
Wait, this is Chemberly, isn’t it? The ranting posts now all make sense.
Your comment was deleted. I don’t have time for stupid talk with someone who can’t stay on topic. Go meet with the local far left. You fit right in.
Yes, Diane, keep silencing me. Delete my comments if you so choose. But I’ll come back, I always do.
Locally Sourced,
Jack
Do better and you won’t be deleted
Oh, and being black isn’t being “tan”, it’s a race. I’m wasting my words, aren’t I?
You seem as desperate as Chemberly. You both can stay off my lawn.
I don’t want anyone at my door. I don’t care if it is a politician or solicitor. Just my friends and family. Many elderly and others living alone should not open their doors to strangers. It’s not always safe.
I refer back to Diane’s original question.
Is Normal Illinois Racist?
Mayoral candidate Chemberly takes a heated encounter with one person (no context given) and informs us that this person, “the human race, our culture, our society our community” are racists and “we are enraged at the very presence of a person of color”, “willing to throw things in her face”. Not to mention that these racists apparently change the definition of words???
Call me racist, but that confusion of messaging won’t make me want to vote for her as much as I think she hoped it would.
Radio silence from her leftist friends. I wonder if they believe her….also if someone throws anything in my face race related or not I’m calling the cops. Nothing adds up
