The buildings downtown are coming down

By: Diane Benjaminb

A motion was made at the beginning of last night’s Council meeting to suspend parts of the Agenda until the March Committee of the Whole meeting. Alderman Danenberger wanted the staff and Council to have the opportunity to attend the candlelight vigil for the weekend murder victims. Aldermen Cody Hendricks seconded the motion. Alderman Sheila Montney objected to putting off the capital projects discussion that would have included the water quality. The items below were suspended anyway, not good when the Council should be concentrating on the budget that has to be passed in April.

Gary Lambert provided water quality comments to the City Council for his Public Comment. Just hit Play. Then keep listening to three far leftists who showed up to protest parking lots replacing buildings downtown. They include Noah Tang, District 87 High School teacher. They were also against the Hamilton Road extension that has been planned for decades. Most of the funding is State and Federal and can’t be used for any other purpose. That point was WAY over their heads.

Jump to 1:22:20 to hear comments by City Manager Jeff Jurgens about the water quality and downtown. Everything except the above passed.
