The Truth About Medicaid in Illinois

Illinois should be asking why so many more people are on Medicaid instead of complaining about “cuts”. Covid is long over, the people eligible then should now be removed.

  1. 3.4 million Democratic votes…….is big part of it. But another part is the cost of care. A couple months ago I was in the hospital five days. They freely ran tests, did an MRI. E x-ray, ultrasound, and chemical stress test. $105,000.00 That’s ONE HUNDRED FIVE THOUSAND US DOLLARS!! No surgeries or complicated procedures….. just tests. Twenty thousand dollars a day. That is insane.

  2. Lets hope that was all pre-approved by your insurance. Generally between the insurance and hospital they cut a reduced deal.
With Medicaid I’m not sure how that works. Does Medicaid pay the full amount rather than a reduced cost?
Someplace I read in some eastern state it more or less paid to just not get a job. Sit at home and collect aid, why work. It was something like 90K or 70K in social benefits a person could get.
Likely what IL is becoming, a social welfare state.

  3. Medicaid is health insurance for the disabled and the elderly many who are in nursing homes. Without Medicaid they would not have health care. Medicaid is also for those who are under poverty rate. Apparently you think the disabled and elderly should just suck it up and receive no medical care.

Nobody is sitting home not working and collecting “aid”. There are those who work and do not make enough to afford health care. The fact is health care is expensive without Medicaid more people would have no health care. ACA gave millions of Americans access to health care with the extension of Medicaid gave more people access to health care.

There is no one making 90,000 a year collecting “social benefits” other than Social Security and Medicare when they retire.

      1. Wednesday Addams for your Information the system is being gamed. My brother in law has never had a real job in his life. He’s worked the system getting SS disability when I doubt he’s contributed two years worth. He’s been on Medicaid for years. He’s not disabled. He’s some health issues but nothing disabling. He’s 58 years old now. He’s just one of how many….?

  4. Unfortunately, there is a tsunami of severely disabled children turning into adults and they have legitimate needs for Medicaid and PUNS for day programs and group homes. The government should try and figure out what is causing this explosion and save the next generation. This is going to get worse and worse.

  5. That tsunami of disabled children you mentioned. Beware of vaccines that big pharma claims to stregthen immune systems. Fact is, immune systems need a chance to develop before being attacked with sythetic substances. Not to mention the introduction to 86 or more “needed” vaccines during childhood. It’s insane! A bit off the rail but if your car needs paint, do you just go ahead and apply paint? No, not if you want it to last. First you’ll clean and sand, remove the rust, sand again, clean again, prime, then with a steady hand apply the paint at proper temperatures in a still environment. More logic is standard protocol with an old car than our precious children.
