Diana Hauman made a drive-by comment to me as she left the data center meeting. She thinks I need to know more about the League of Women Voters before writing about them. I spontaneously burst out laughing!

The majority of stories quote what THEY said. Things like abolishing the Electoral College, Modified Ward in Bloomington (luckily failed), against abolishing the Bloomington Election Commission (they want the entire County under an unaccountable commission), against the Save America Act because married women won’t be able to vote 😆, pro killing babies (Reproductive Freedom), and more.
Funny how LWV polies align perfectly with the democrat party. It’s difficult to remember they are nonpartisan when what they post isn’t.

I was driving east on Oakland after the data center event. A Connect Transfer Bus was a few vehicles ahead. A bus stop required them to stop – in the bike lane! Of course the bus didn’t fit in the bike lane. Nobody was at the bus stop, but the bus stopped anyway.
Numerous vehicles behind the bus then crossed the centerline to go around the bus. Government planning at its best! There are numerous bus stops on Oakland, “traffic calming” means lanes aren’t wide enough for vehicles and bus stops.

It looks very nice now. Yes, they got help from Bloomington taxpayers to do this.

Below is the 10 year property tax history for 2 Bloomington homes. Buying a home in Illinois means paying for it more than once. This is why people leave the state. Home owners are taxed on increased values they will never see unless they sell. When the housing market crashed owners got a very small tax decrease.

SB2832 makes schools the parents – also called another unfunded mandate. Luckily it doesn’t appear to be going anywhere yet but it could reappear later. What does it do?
Amends the Courses of Study Article of the School Code. Provides that, beginning with the 2027-2028 school year, the State Board of Education shall establish a pilot program in 5 school districts requiring pupils in prekindergarten through grade 12 to receive developmental etiquette education. Provides that, beginning with the 2028-2029 school year, every school district in this State shall require pupils in prekindergarten through grade 12 to receive developmental etiquette education. Sets forth the grades and instruction for developmental etiquette education, and requires feedback and evaluations. Provides that, beginning with the 2028-2029 school year, as a prerequisite to receiving a high school diploma, each pupil in grade 12 must, in addition to other course requirements, successfully complete developmental etiquette education.
Reading and math is optional.

“developmental etiquette education”, where might a person get what all of what this actually involves?
The name sure sounds nice but would be interesting to see what the students are actually going to be taught.

Meanwhile, our candidates heard the questions for the first time when Diane Hauman and Phyllis VerSteege asked them. The gaslighting no longer works. We know exactly who they are.
