Surveys Matter, especially if you don’t respond

By: Diane Benjamin

The McLean County Regional Planning Commission is planning for 2045. This is the same group that wanted an eastside bypass a few years ago.

If you don’t know who is runs these “planners”, see the Board members here: https://mcplan.org/about-us/about-mcrpc/the-commission

What this unelected Commission reports is considered gold to Bloomington, Normal, and all other units of government. Their latest survey was distributed to a local bike club by email. It probably targeted to other groups too. Do you know about it?

Take the survey here or only the answers they want will be recorded:

  1. This survey is surprisingly Not a total waste of time. It includes both the usual ‘what would you like us to waste future tax increases on’ but also ‘what are McLean County’s biggest weaknesses’?
Worth filling out just to put something to the effect of ‘Biggest weakness is being in the corrupt, overtaxed state of IL. Second biggest is that McLean County government wants to mirror that on a more local level.’ And under Strengths, put something like ‘Strengths don’t matter if companies, jobs, and productive people continue to leave due to high taxes and wasteful spending. New projects are just lipstick on a downward spiraling pig.’
Please DO fill it out. Rate anything you think they want to spend on as ‘good’ or n/a. Immigration accommodations are actually horrendous simply because they exist at all, but if you rate it as that, they’ll say they need to double the spending.
