The tax levy is the total amount each government board wants to collect the following year. This amount is usually set in late fall. Boards do not set the tax rate but they know about what it will be based on the amount of money they want to collect.
The 2022 County tax levy had been set at $40,644,315 when Corey Beirne took office.
The 2023 tax levy of $46,125,155 passed with Corey Beirne voting to approve. It represented a 13.5% increase over the 2022 tax levy.
The 2024 tax levy of $49,324,182 passed with Corey Beirne voting to approve. It represented a 6.9% increase over the 2023 tax levy.
The 2025 Tax Levy of $50,075,698 passed with Corey Beirne voting to approve. It represented a 1.5% increase over the 2024 levy.

I wonder if Corey Beirne wanted a 28% salary increase for County Board members at the May 2026 meeting to cover the higher property taxes he voted for? That attempt failed.
Obviously Beirne has no intention of controlling spending and therefore property taxes.
His opponent is a much better choice: Matt Steinkoenig
Excellent analysis of the facts, to dispell the hilarious false lies of Corey. It’s beyond absurd he is running on a platform of fiscal responsibility and affordability, while he recklessly hikes spending and taxes, making housing incredibly more unaffordable for the working middle class. Higher property taxes means your landlord will raise the rent to cover his cost increase, or your bank will increase your monthly escrow to cover Corey’s tax hike bill. Corey is Mr. housing unaffordability.
Classic politician. Whatever he says, or whatever the bill is called, expect the opposite to occur.
Vote out the pirate before he plunders more taxpayer treasure to give himself a bountiful booty of a personal pay hike.
Just like he goes after Kathy Michael but yet passed the previous years amended budgets.
