Welfare Country

by:  Diane Benjamin

Collecting money from government has turned millions of people into government slaves.  Government is NOT being compassionate, they did it on purpose.  The population must look to government to solve their problems or government is unnecessary.  What better way to establish job security than having peons beg at your feet just to survive.  It used to be a way of life for a small portion of society, but not any more.

Local, County, and State governments now beg for grants.

McLean County proudly announces being awarded $2,250,000 HHS on the Home page of their website:  https://il-mcleancounty.civicplus.com/index.aspx

Dickie Durbin just announced we are getting road money

The zoo got a grant.

The McLean Historical Society got a grant.

We got a State grant to build a bike path north.

High speed rail has collected billions.

I could go on and on and on.

The list of pandering by government to CONTROL you is endless.  America has been turned into a country of welfare recipients waiting for scraps to fall from our master’s table.  Democrats do it, but so do Republicans.  The McLean County Regional Planning Commission (the group doing Bring It On Bloomington) is the artery most used to find money.  The Feds want local governments to do something – like bike paths.  They funnel money to the States, the States produce grants that can only be used for what the Feds want.   Instant bike paths!  Of course all the conventions and meetings you pay your local government people to attend gets them primed and ready to want the money.   David Hales just got back from the International City Managers Association meeting.  Mayor Renner talked about the meetings he has attended at Monday’s Council meeting.

Local government has ceased to exist.

It took decades to destroy what made America great.  We were not founded to beg the government for money.  We weren’t founded to take money just because it is offered.  We weren’t founded for social justice that merely takes money from people who earned it and gives it to people who didn’t.

We weren’t founded to accumulate almost $18,000,000,000,000,000 of debt.

We weren’t founded to be controlled by government.

Why is American History and the Founding Fathers no longer taught in many public schools?

Government doesn’t want the kids to know the Founders were right.  We are on the wrong path.

Thomas Jefferson:

“When we get piled upon one another in large cities, as in Europe, we shall become as corrupt as Europe.”

“The democracy will cease to exist when you take away from those who are willing to work and give to those who would not.  I predict future happiness for Americans if they can prevent the government from wasting the labors of the people under the pretense of taking care of them.”

“It is incumbent on every generation to pay its own debts as it goes.  A principle which if acted on would save one-half the wars of the world.”

“My reading of history convinces me that most bad government results from too much government.”

“No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms.  The strongest reason for the people to retain the right to keep and bear arms is, as a last resort, to protect themselves against tyranny in government.”

“To compel a man to subsidize with his taxes the propagation of ideas which he disbelieves and abhors is sinful and tyrannical.”

“I believe that banking institutions are more dangerous to our liberties than standing armies. If the American people ever allow private banks to control the issue of their currency, first by inflation, then by deflation, the banks and corporations that will grow up around the banks will deprive the people of all property – until their children wake-up homeless on the continent their fathers conquered.”

“May (the Declaration of Independence) be to the world, what I believe it will be, to some parts sooner, to others later, but finally to all, the signal to assume the blessings and security of self-government.”

(His last written words June 24, 1826)
