Normal City Manager Pam Reece talks about all the great things they are doing – except ONE.
Here’s a hint:

.
When you someday sit in your car behind a train blocking the tracks while bikers and walkers freely navigate a path under the tracks that you can’t use, take deep breaths. Normal did it to you on purpose. You voted for them (or failed to show up on election day).
I wonder how many millions the project is over budget now?

Chicago has its Magnificent Mile. Normal has its Golden Stroll at $1.38 million per yard. ($23 million for saving a 50 foot walk)
It will be WAY over $23 mil
Pam Reece my last interaction with our beloved civil servant. As I walked into the city council meeting, mid summer 2023, the public speaking signup sheet was not available. So, I approached Pam’s, “throne” aside our own Mayor Koos and politely asked to have my name added to the list. Her response, could have simply been, Of course! Or No problem! Or Hello, what can I do for you? Of course I can add your name, glad to see you here tonight. But instead her response was a growling, “Yes I have the list. Hurry up!”. So I carefully read and signed my name before taking my seat up front. Later hearing mayor Koos accost, after the meeting was over, a private citizen Mr. Sila, for verbalizing criticisms during public comments.
Public servants that have arrogance, ego, and narcissistic personalities have no business in government.
And you expected civility from the king and queen of Normal? Look how they treated Stan Nord!
Welcome to the BIG DIG 2.0!
Just wait until the drug dealers and homeless move into the underpass. Then NPD will be forced to patrol down there and the cost of the underpass will go up!
Are people in cars better than people who bike or walk?
What does that have to do with the story?
“When you someday sit in your car behind a train blocking the tracks while bikers and walkers freely navigate a path under the tracks that you can’t use, take deep breaths.”
It seems like you’re saying that people who bike or people who walk don’t deserve to have safer options for getting around, at least not compared to people who use cars.
One underpass could have been built for everyone. A free overpass was offered and rejected.
