Bloomington meeting: 8 minutes 52 seconds

By: Diane Benjamin

Did you know Normal canceled their first meeting of the year last week? Bloomington is trying hard to be them with everything being discussed in private meetings with the City Manager long before votes. This is the local government version of “democracy”.

There was only one Public Comment – Surena Fish. The Safety Commission (Molly Ward’s idea) is trying to duplicate what the PSCRB has been doing for 6 years. Evidently this commission wants to take guns away from law abiding citizens. Surena had the perfect response – just hit play below. You can see who is on this commission here: https://www.bloomingtonil.gov/government/boards-commissions/special-commission-for-safe-communities

When new do-gooders get put on boards who haven’t been active in other city meetings or commissions they repeat what has already been done. Brilliant waste of time!

No discussion took place about items on the Consent Agenda. The words that should terrify you were uttered by City Manager Tim Gleason at 7:57.

Did the Water Park ever get finished Tim? Celebrate now, the mayor is going to the US Conference of Mayors in Washington DC to get his left wing marching orders. There is one item on the agenda Mkoka should learn from since Illinois is guilty: https://shorturl.at/ayDU8

A continued focus on the preemption of local authority by state legislatures across the country, a growing trend that is restricting mayors’ abilities to do their jobs, keep their residents safe, and protect their rights.

  1. Note to the safety commission. When the framers wrote the Constitution many of them were statesmen and spoke eloquentlly. When they worte the 2nd Amendment with the phrase “shall not be infringed” in laymens terms what they really meant to say is “do not f-ck with.” Although obvious to free thinking people I do hope this helps you understand what it means to live in America as an American citizen with inalieable rights as per the greatest document every written to escape tyranny, the United States Constitution.

  2. I remember hearing about this group forming. How long have they been active? Just 2 meetings? Are we able to obtain any of their findings or results yet?

  3. Illinois has (13) Mayors who have registered across the entire State of IL.
Somehow BOTH Normal and Bloomington mayors have justified that they should be going to DC – UNREAL!!! Maybe they should just stay home!!

OR how about the Bloomington and Normal mayors drive Koos’ electric truck (the taxpayers bought him) out to DC and back!! Seems like a great option to save us on the cost of their airfare to DC.
