Is Normal doing a secret survey?

By: Diane Benjamin

Is this a scam?

As seen on social media: Normal Vision 2050/Sustainability Plan Survey

I couldn’t find promotion of this survey on the Town of Normal website promoting this survey. See Vision Plans here – no mention of a new survey: https://www.normalil.gov/1738/Vision-Plans

The main Town of Normal website page usually links to such initiatives, but it’s not there.

The opening page of the survey looks less than professional: https://surveys.zencity.io/normal-il/JzxlCI/en?s=fb&fbclid=IwAR2usEWMh0DhgVsWelokjABLpPZGjl-UnhR6Syt6MB4K35ythBZc_vUHuo0

It is Powered by ZenCity however, the Town of Normal does pay to use them.

Before completing the survey, it’s advisable to verify its authenticity. If you prefer cooking with a gas stove, consider reaching out to the Town or contemplate moving out of Normal. The survey seems to be aimed at climate change activists.

What caused the glacier that once covered half of Illinois to melt? That alone should indicate that the climate is constantly changing. The true intention behind the cycles of Global Cooling, Global Warming, and Climate Change is often argued to be aimed at impoverishing individuals and restricting freedoms.

Certainly, the Town of Normal appears fixated on authoritarian control, labeling it as “Full Service.” Perhaps they need the survey to assert their authority to curtail your rights.

If the planet is believed to be on the brink of destruction in less than 10 years due to insufficient action to end fossil fuel usage, why invest in building an underpass?

  1. Surveys are deceptive and galore and a GREAT way to track and profile and promote initiatives and projects and people.

Cybernautics, U of I, ISU, Chamber, OmniChannel, SF (and insurance companies in general) and healthcare and public/private “partnerships” and contracts. All on a mission (Republicans and Dems profit from all of this).

One Voice, follow the narrative, create a “campaign” and do a mass data grab and share.

Progressives and partners run the county and area. Little Cali and Chicago. Profiling and money grabs and data grabs galore.

No surprise. Disgusting strategy here in Illinois and McLean County.

  2. Here’s an option for you, 2nd part on the survey, “access to nature, such as parks.” Ugh, since when did mother nature participate in making “parks.” Swing sets, teeter tottors, slides, rubber chips to fall on so you don’t scrape a knee, etc., ain’t natural, ain’t nature. Oh my, did one of the bike nazis put together this survey? The survey is set up towards making you choose sustainabilty answers throughout. Another joke, Koos style.

  3. Diane,
You are amazing! You keep us informed on so many concerns. You are a true watchman on the wall. Keep doing this important work. You inform folks like me who would miss 99.9% of the stuff our government does to us to inhibit and restrain freedom. The new town motto should be “Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap” Keep watching for us. Thanks – MM

  4. Its at least good that you can comment at the end of the survey. Here’s mine to the Town of Normal

First you need to clearly define the word “environmental sustainability”. Very clearly define it. I can’t say that enough. Be honest, don’t hide behind an indistinct wording. It could mean a number of things.

Sustainable to me means we should spend as much money as possible in an illogical manner based on a presumption that not everyone agrees with – that our planet will die if we don’t stop using fossil fuels. And that the spend of those resources in our small community will somehow lend to the achievement of such a worldwide goal when the vast majority of small communities in the world are not in alignment or are not able to participate in such beliefs.

I think you are using this survey it to get a predefined outcome that supports your own held beliefs and encourages you to spend money. Or you are doing it because you like to appear to be virtuous, even if the results of your efforts are questionable at best. Or you are blindly doing it because it has been demanded by authorities above you with grant money to give away. Or you just like to spend massive amounts of money that isn’t yours.

Whatever it is you should first question whether the citizens of this community really support your presumption that our community *should* make a priority of the clearly defined concept of “environmental sustainability”. Or are there other priorities for spending our money that take precedence over this? And *most* importantly you need to show estimates of cost to achieve your results.

  5. “environmental sustainability” – What a weasel phrase!
It means the environment and everyone in it is going to die very soon, and you will be to blame if you don’t fork over your money to do what we say must be done to save it. And don’t ask for proof.

I can just see the wide-eyed noncritical thinkers (democrats) opening the pocketbooks and breathlessly saying – “how much do you need?”
