EV Townhall a bust

By: Diane Benjamin

A whopping 30 people attended the EV Townhall! If that isn’t funny enough, read WGLT’s article about the event: https://tinyurl.com/EV-Townhall

10 people were on the panel for the 30 attendees.

Of course claims were made about EV’s and Climate Change. Facts are immaterial. Get some: https://climateataglance.com/climate-at-a-glance-natural-vs-human-contributions-to-greenhouse-gases-and-global-average-temperatures/

The article got really funny with David Braun of Connect Transit:

Keep in mind that on March 1st only two of the twelve electric buses they own were operable: https://blnnews.com/2024/03/13/that-bus-being-towed-wasnt-electric/

Braun isn’t insane – government is. Connect Transit needs vehicles, government hands out grants but only grants for electric vehicles. They don’t care if the technology and/or manufacturers aren’t ready for prime time because they aren’t spending their own money. Does Braun know tornados and hail can take out solar panels?

McLean County is up to 1440 EV’s that don’t pay Federal, State or Local Gas taxes. Celebrate now, China is since a lot of the raw materials needed to build EV’s are controlled by them.

I wonder if the electric Connect Transit bus was towed there?

  1. So many things are not right about this but ordering 10 more electric buses tops the list! That would be about one bus for every person in attendance or who actually believe there is a sustainable future for heavy duty vehicles.

  2. 10 more Electric buses? Do they have adequate storage space to store them when they’re broken down & not running? Just more of our tax dollars flushed down the toilet. A grant is our tax money. The government has nothing to give. Who owns the company that builds these buses? They are getting rich taking our money. Just like Solyndra.

  3. I remember back in the 60’s when I was a kid. Seems like about then the first Bic stick pen came out. People said that when it quits writing you just throw it away. I think I was about 6 or 8 years old and I wondered why anyone would throw a pen away instead of putting a refill in it. It did not make sense to me. Still the wastefulness does not make any sense except to enrich the rich. The big corporations keep making wasteful products as the rest of us are shamed for filling up our automobiles. What a scam! Also many folks remember taking soda pop bottles back to the store to recycle them. You’d get a nickel or a dime back. Wash ’em out, use them again and again. Climate change, sustainability, etc., are all just one big scam on the people to transfer more wealth to the wealthy, that’s all.

  4. “ The micro grid will be a solar grid that charges the battery, and then that battery will
charge our buses when they need to be charged,” said Braun.
Sounds to me like something out of a junior high school science project.

The idiocy is in plain sight but the perceived virtue of green keeps them comfortably mum.

  5. We see a Connect short bus stopped in front of Home Goods Sunday mornings around 7:30. It idles for at least 10 minutes and leaves. I’m just curious as to why its there. The manager shows up a bit later to start her shift. This doesn’t look to be a mobility bus. It’s white and seems to be a shuttle bus (Connect logos).

    1. R. J. had to send the underling. He was too busy making media junkets to LA, NYC and locations in between to announce the million pre-orders Rivian has already received on the new models that were to be made in Georgia but now Normal guaranteeing millions in profits and 3,000 more new jobs for the BN area. More announcements to come of why the new models won’t be able to be delivered on time and why the prices will have to be increased to $100,000 each to make up due to poor supply chains and unionization of 10- year – old mine workers in Africa that increased the price of Rivian battery components.
