Koos: Normal would have lost much more if they hadn’t settled

By: Diane Benjamin

Of course Normal Mayor Chris Koos didn’t say those words. For once he is very transparent in what he did say:

The case was filed by Alan Beaman in 2014. How much did Normal waste on legal fees before they decided to settle?

Would a jury have awarded Beaman more money? Koos looks like he was worried they might.

Is Normal looking for the REAL murderer? The article doesn’t say. Since Koos thinks they did nothing wrong, I doubt it.

  1. He should not have settled. I remember that case well. How much is he having to pay attorneys out of that sum. How much is he actually going to end up with to compensate for 15 years in prison and loss of his youth. I am sure surviving in prison was no easy feat.

    1. Only 13 years in prison. If ole innocent Al thought someone else did it, he should have coughed up the information to authorities. Not saying he plunged the knife in her but based on his attitude at the time, bet he knew who did. The actual witnesses that sat in the trial also think that way. Want to commit a murder, ,do it in BN, chances are real good you’ll get off (Lockmiller, Hendricks, Zimmerman) the list goes on.

  2. “We feel that our officers did
    what was required of them.”
Well that speaks volumes! The village manager is their boss. The police are told what they can & cannot do. Koos did NOT want all that to come out at trial.

  3. The decimal was in the wrong place. You put me in prison for 13 years for a murder I didn’t commit it and I’m going to trial swinging for the fences. 54 million might get me to reconsider that. Normal police don’t have a real Stellar reputation quite frankly and they prove that time and time again even recently with the young woman who was accosted by police officers at the police station because she wouldn’t surrender her phone for an illegal search.

  4. His narcissism and arrogance is way too big for any kind words or well wishes to a man that lost 13 years because of bad (some would say that it borders on corrupt or even worse) detective, investigative, and police work. Btw, Mayor Koos persons charged with crimes don’t have to assist in the investigation.

  5. Not settling would have brought more media attention including Koos as the mayor all this time. Koos doesn’t want the publicity of that. He’s always looking out for his interests first and foremost. Do not be fooled.
