Bloomington tonight: NEEDS

There is a public hearing on re-allocating federal money for a park:

This statement is in the attachment to this item. It shows a huge problem with government:

Government “needs” are frequently not the “needs” people identify. Did you “need” a water park or just two new pools? Did you “need” a new library? Do you “need” downtown redesigned? (This is the short list!)

Because of inflation your dollars are worth at least 20% less. Government receipts are fine because they collect more taxes on higher priced everything. Government “needs” to recognize your “needs” are more difficult to meet and therefore their “needs” should reflect that. (Hint: they won’t)

Normal can’t live without the local grocery tax according to this story: https://www.wglt.org/local-news/2024-06-20/town-of-normal-staff-to-recommend-municipal-grocery-sales-tax

Pam Reece “needs” a sculpture garden. Bloomington will also pass a local grocery tax because Normal does.

Quality of Life is letting you keep your own money. History proves that won’t happen.

There is only one item of interest on the regular agenda:

Last week’s discussion proved nothing if ready for passage. It will be fun to see what changed in a week.

  1. I can add this comment about park type exercise equipment. I spend a good amount of time on the Tipton area Constitution trail where there are exercise stations along the trail. Very rarely have I seen anyone using the equipment.

I really do believe that there are other things more useful that could be purchased if they use their heads and involve the community.

Maybe an advertisement campaign on the dangers of getting a Covid vaccine shot.

  2. Goof Balls “elitist” leaders projects and nepotistic money and shady “benchmark” data funnel. “For The Good” Marketing at its worst and we pay!

B-N and Central Illinois- corruption on all ends (every dept)
    👌

  3. This simply continues to allocate an inordinate amount of funding toward the implementation of the ” New Green Deal” otherwise known as sustainable development. This does not further needed investment toward actual fundamental needs of the city or the citizens. The bottom line is that our tax dollars are being used to create an environment very few citizens need or want and in effect depresses our local economy by further removing the ability for private investment in business and private ventures such as home ownership.

  4. Grocery tax : now who DIDNT SEE IT COMING! This is a Koos wet dream. More opportunity to tax higher and higher. Koos and queen Pam are just drooling over just how high they can tax groceries. If you think local gas tax is bad, just wait the grocery tax will be worse!

  5. WHEN will “we the people” ALL VOTE and get these LOSERS (especially KOOKS!) out of office?? They might as well be robbing us all blind on the streets as they STEAL our money for their worthless causes!

Diane, I get so furious (not at you) over most everything you report, and I keep thinking WHY do we let this craziness continue?? EVERYONE has an obligation to VOTE. Please vote in all elections, all you NORMAL people. ;D

Until then, I thank you for your time and effort, Diane.
