Living on Grants instead of within your means

By: Diane Benjamin

In case you missed it, CIRA got a Federal grant for improvements: https://www.centralillinoisproud.com/news/local-news/federal-dollars-coming-to-cira-to-buy-new-safety-equipment-rehabilitate-runway/

“Bringing home the bacon” to buy votes wouldn’t be needed if the Federal Government wasn’t trying to control everything by spending $2 Trillion more a year than it receives from taxpayers. Like inflation? Unless the size and spending of the feds shrinks dramatically it will get worse.

Didn’t Sorensen get a bill passed to tax the entire County for CIRA? Taxation without representation, but nobody cared – especially when the County doesn’t get a vote!

Keep in mind CIRA are the same people who lied to us about why the soccer fields had to move: https://blnnews.com/2018/04/05/faa-cira-and-soccer/

Excerpt:

I received NO emails saying the fields were too dangerous.  Instead, the FAA wanted development on the airport property to be aeronautical in nature and be leased for Fair Market Value.  In addition, letting PCSL stay on the property might affect future grants.

That should have been obvious to everyone when soccer got years of extensions to stay. If the kids were in danger they would have immediately been removed.

Has Carl Olsen ever apologized?

Local governments neglected infrastructure for decades in favor of non-essential spending. Now they have grant writers (at your expense) locating money that will make inflation worse. #Unsustainable
