I don’t think U5 dumped DEI. It is still listed as one of their departments. It still shows their District Equity Leadership Team (DELT) of which Corey Beirne is a founding member. It still lists their founding document, the Equity Audit of 2021 which Beirne praised.
The Audit was constructed by Systemic Educational Equity LLC of Chicago. They provided the underlying ideology and goals for Unit 5’s Equity program. https://www.systemicedequity.com/services-1
However, you can’t see the district’s DEI quarterly updates. They’ve decided those should be secret.

DEI is a fad, like most things in education. Just wait a few years, it will be completely gone.
Companies are already dumping it!
@BNIndy, DEI is fading in industry partly due to the fact that it goes is against civil rights laws so it’s a legal risk which becomes a financial risk.
For DEI to fade in Illinois’ education system it has to be eliminated at the state level. Currently Culturally Responsive Teaching and Leading is written into the State’s Administrative Code. I don’t see JBP or the teacher’s unions letting go of it as long as democrats are in power. Which means forever.
Companies are dumping it because it adversely impacts the bottom line. UNIT 5 will keep it because they are determined to indoctrinate and brainwash, “young skulls full of mush.” It is no accident that Beirne & Shelvin and their fellow comrades landed here. They needed trained marxists to implement their agenda and ideology, no matter how harmful. They are intent on destroying the family and will use the children to accomplish this.
Unit 5 is hiding behind the new title. DEI is not going away. The Government runs education and this is part of their agenda. Just like Nazi Germany, they went after the children to go after the parents because the parents knew better.
Also, education doesn’t lose money like private business, education has nothing to lose.
Unit 5 will be DEI friendly as long as they can manipulate policy, staff, students, parents, and the board. Labels and seperation into “tribes” is the typical play style.
Just got the employee newsletter from my work and they made a full page acknowledgement and announcement that they are implementing DEI policies through a women’s empowerment group. 🤬🤮
