My church in Bloomington is a voting location. Yesterday they had a large number of poll workers and machines – larger than previous years.
The crew sets up for the election the night before. We had some members there to move a lot of furniture out of the way. I don’t remember the BEC staff ever helping before, but Monday night they did!
Tuesday night we didn’t go back to church until 7:45. Last year it took the crew a long time to finish and pack up the machines. They were done when we arrived and had already moved all the furniture for us. Excellent job guys!
When I got home I tried to check election results. Add this to the reasons to abolish the Bloomington Election Commission. I got this error on the website and it lasted for 1/2 hour. I quit checking after 9:30 so I don’t know when it cleared up:

McLean County has ridiculous election results because totals from the County website have to be added to the totals on the BEC website. Elections don’t have to be this difficult.
Election notes:
- Pritzker bought McLean County. The County Board will be run by Democrats
- The people are smarter than the elites telling them an elected auditor isn’t needed. Run somebody against the current office holder instead of trying to delete an elected office.
- The media was defeated. Polls were wrong again.
- Illinois will continue to trans your kids, provide abortions for your daughter without telling you and make taxpayers pay for it. Taxpayers will continue to be forced to pay for illegals too. Property taxes will continue to rise because children here illegally will continue to flood the schools. Evidently Illinois parents don’t care enough about their kids to demand change.
- Proving Democrats don’t believe in diversity: Eric Hansen will stay on the County Board in District 8 while his spouse, Cody Hendricks, is running for Bloomington mayor and has a seat on the City Council. In other words, zero diversity. On April 1st voters have a chance to do better. The wife of County Board member Corey Beirne is running for a seat on the City Council – Abby Scott. Seriously Ward 9?
- Progressives got wiped out in many states because their policies never work. Too bad it didn’t happen in Illinois. Unemployment will continue to be higher here and more people will leave. Taxes will go up because that’s what democrats do. Adding a millionaires tax will accelerate the exit.
- The Democrats had plans to obstruct President Trump before the election. Since it looks like Trump won not only the election but the POPULAR vote, they do that at their own risk. Democrats can stop trying to raise money on eliminating the Electoral College too. It isn’t going to happen.
I really hope the new President defunds sanctuary states and cities.

Bloomington is nuts. My how far they have fallen
McLean County and Illinois in general…the new Blue Sore Thumb of the country (agree with you entirely on all points). Unfortunately, some of us long rooted ones its too expensive to just move and sustainable jobs difficult to get with the system/process now implemented statewide with decent affordable benefits. Taxes (assessment system ripe with corruption or just implemented wrong)
Little Chicago/Canada….hope our GOP and Universities stop the money/data funnels and project abuses cause this controlled state. Our state depts and healthcare system/operations depts has been infiltrated with Pritzker family “data” projects and that probably will get worse.
Sacrifice the old (long time taxpayer) to get and attract the new (hip and innovative)…always works for McLean County Leadership it seems.
Keep up the good work and providing real information cause its difficult to see the big picture in our local areas for sure.
I was “long rooted” born and raised and attended college at ISU. Yes, you can leave. I spent more to leave than intended but it was worth it and we have never been happier. Lower taxes, people that think and live like us, common sense area, diversified economy and generally nice people. Put your mind to it. It can be done. Illinois and BN are dead and never coming back. Living the rest of your life in misery because of fools around you isn’t worth it.
Something to seriously consider….Thanks!
Happily gone from Illinois and McLean county. Took my family and my income to a state with lower taxes, better government, and better policies. Illinois politicians only care about themselves and keeping power. It is entertaining watching Illinois sink further into the abyss!
Thank you for what you do Diane.
We as Americans, just need to be dealing with the truth. Mclean County office holders need to properly represent the people, not some new obscure populist trend.
I am SHOCKED! and I’m pleased to learn most of America isn’t as dumb as I thought. Illinois and McLean county on the other hand….no surprise there.
What is happening and has happened in McLean County was planned by operatives in Chicago and assisted by people the likes of Dick Durbin, Chris Koos, Tari Renner, and Mike Matekja and John Penn at the Laborers Hall as well as ISU and IWU and their political science departments. The GOP is so weak there it was an easy take when you have the likes of Dan Brady and the Dobski’s running the local show. The violence and theft will continue. People there will continue to be more concerned about getting high, drunk and laid than the future of the community. Eventually, you will see an uptick in abandoned houses and commercial buildings as the older portions of the city becomes victims of flight and neglect. Your roads will continue to look and be like the dark side of the moon. Rivian, SF and CF will be shells of their former selves.
MPeabody is correct about who the democrat villains are but incorrectly attributes blame to Brady and Dobski. The correct blame for a weak and shortsighted local GOP should go to Connie Beard and David Paul Blumenshine.
With all due respect, Brady and the Dobski’s dance with all the villains I cited. Attend a social function in BN sometime and watch as they laugh, eat and drink together and run in the same crowds. Where was last night’s GOP get together and most GOP social events held? Rob Dob’s or at the Dobski household. Julie has always been more concerned about her social and weak leadership status in the BN community. Crucify me if you want, but I’ll bet my last dollar she’s involved. Wake up to the fact the woman is as phoney as anyone in BN. I’ve seen her up close both out front in the community and in private. The public and private personnas are totally the inverse. She’s the poster child for the poor “leadership” in BN.
The biggest thing for Julie Dobski is her number one priority; being seen, being recognized, and being a leading force of the social ‘in crowd”.
Hear hear, Diane! I hope president Trump defunds them as well.
My family voted to eliminate the position of County Auditor as well and save County taxpayers a few bucks.
And quite frankly the BEC needs to go too!
Curious is anyone else was TOLD they had to show ID? The election “judge” said my signature was “suspect.” I was holding my purse and an umbrella while trying to sign my name. Is anyone’s signature every really exactly the same? I said, I thought you couldn’t ask for ID? The reply was that SHE had every right to ask for my ID when SHE felt it was suspect. This was after giving my name and address.
I am not saying we shouldn’t have to show ID, but current law states we don’t. Do they just pick and choose based on their assumptions that signatures don’t match.
It’s illegal in Illinois to ask undocumented for an ID, maybe that doesn’t apply to citizens. Just like they can fly without an ID but citizens can’t without proving they are.
At least this shows one poll worker was trying to do a good job….ferreting out bogus votes.
Nephew got some conflicting info from Clerk’s office as compared to what he was told at a rural county polling place…. Hope they don’t rely on ChatBots or ChatGPT for their guidance and training 🙂
Sincere condolences to the citizens of McLean County. As a former citizen, I’m sad to see what’s happened to my home of 30 years. I drove through my old neighborhood back in September and was shocked to see how many Harris/Walz yard signs there were. Unfortunately, no one is coming to save you. You have 3 choices.
1. Organize a serious grass roots movement built around common sense and take back the lost ground.
2. Leave altogether, if you can. There are many good places that align with common sense values.
3. Don’t vote or participate and enjoy (suffer) the results of your inaction.
Whatever you choose, I wish you all the best.
People that live in BN don’t notice it but ask people that leave and come back to visit family or friends. Many neighborhoods are deteriorating, the streets are an absolute embarrassment and many business fronts look worn and haggard. It’s beyond sad but predictable. When the focus is taken off growing a viable community and refocused on the latest trends and internet fads being promoted, this is what happens. You can’t keep electing policymakers that waste money on their family and friends wishes and wants and creating social bogeymen that aren’t there and ignore most of the citizenry. BN promoted all this 20 and 30 years ago welcoming the dregs to the community. Well now, the out of town dregs now run the show and have no intention of giving it back. I should feel sorry for the community I was raised in but don’t. You all asked for it and got it in spades. You’ll need all the luck you can get because you are now Decatur and Peoria.
Diane, how much Pritzker money do you think flowed into McLean County?
If it’s just 1 cent, it needs to be stopped somehow.
He hates us and is eventually going to destroy us and the rest of the state.
Just in October he gave the local democrats $65,000. You can do more research on IllinoisSunshine.org
