Board candidate Casey Misch reported he was the only person running April 1st to actually attend the Tri-Valley Board meeting last night. Yes your property taxes got a massive increase because they can. Meetings aren’t on video and few people stand up to the Tax Class.
You will get your property tax bill next year AFTER the election. Since few people in Downs and the area bother to vote complaining isn’t allowed.
Next year McLean County is going to put a 1% Sales Tax on the ballot. It was discussed at Tri-Valley last night and also at Unit 5. School funding could be tripled and they still wouldn’t have enough!

The talking points are 50% of Illinois Counties have this tax so we need it too. 100% of counties would be losing population if Illinois wasn’t a sanctuary state. Unit 5 would be educating around 1000 less kids making this tax unneeded. Remember how your property taxes would go down if you voted for the last referendum?
It appears all McLean County Schools have to pass a resolution to put this on the ballot. Most schools don’t video board meetings so unless you attend you will never know. 1% will never stay at 1%. Taxes only go one direction: Whatever they can get by with.
See 27:57. Unit 5 Superintendent Weikle claims 25% of all sales in McLean County are made by people who don’t live in the county. She thinks the 1% tax will be paid by them. Dividing the tax will be done by the number of students each school district has. Of course Unit 5 wants the tax.
An ordinance to place this on the ballot was not presented last night. School Districts are putting this out now to see how much outrage it generates. Unless you moving to a state that values your presence, the outrage MUST start now.
The Unit 5 meeting was over 4 hours long. The Board updated the: Policy 7.180 Prevention of and Response to Bullying, Intimidation, and Harassment.
It does nothing to actually enforce the policy. Social media is full of parents screaming for help because their children are being bullied and administration at their school is doing NOTHING.
One of my kids was a victim at Tri-Valley. He’s 6’5″ and a much smaller twerp constantly destroyed his property secretly. I finally got fed up with admin doing nothing because “they didn’t see him do it”. The other kids knew who the culprit was, still nothing. I solved it by telling the principal to go ahead and write the detention slip because my son had my permission to deck him. He never had to because it stopped. Parents have to demand action because Unit 5 is no different than Tri-Valley. Pretending everything is wonderful has life long impacts on kids.
See 26:45. Evidently Unit 5 is taking away advanced math for high performers. (Dumbing down students and probably calling it equity)
The video won’t post, you have to go to the link.
Unit 5 property taxes are of course going up. Details next.

The political class and nearly 185 McLean County taxing bodies can’t wait to tax everything and everyone ASAP. Specifically, school administrators could have an unlimited source of school funding and within 6 months these parasites would be back before taxpayers whining about lack of adequate funding then brag about the product they are producing. But, as you have pointed out many times, McLean County residents don’t think it important enough to vote but then again, the options all smell the same.
I tried to go to the Unit 5 Board Meeting last night at the Normal West High School. All door were locked an even though I rang the bell there was no response. Do I have to call ahead or something?
The announcement says Normal West but the video shows what looks like a stage. I have no idea where it was.
If you only knew how much the local elites and electeds ( with a very few exceptions ) despise and disparage average citizen taxpayers in the 309 …
Anyone that trusts anyone managing finances or “operations” in Unit 5 needs to take a better look at the same and abuses and systematic platforms/schemes to money funnel easier go. They all retire big saying they are “saving the world and making things better” for the “kids” while lining their and family and pals pockets.
