A Livingston County wind company is running commercials promoting yet another wind farm. Evidently they are trying to gain public support.
Yes, property tax money is generated. Yes, some electricity is generated – if the wind is blowing. Yes, the turbines leak oil. Yes, a backup energy source is required for when turbines aren’t generating electricity and the battery storage runs out.
It gets much worse though. The tax windfall going to schools and other taxing bodies within a few years DECREASES. The schools get used to more money, so they start new projects. When the revenue falls, who is going to continue funding those projects? Have you ever seen a school cut their budget to match revenues? Want to know why your taxes continue to increase? Duh.

This is just one. All of them are declining because they depreciate and eventually become useless garbage.

Next year the taxes billed on just this one turbine will be half of what it was in 2008.
