Connect Transit Eats and Travels

By: Diane Benjamin

Connect Transit frequently has expenses for Travel and Meetings. The June meeting listed $5,861.95: https://connect-transit.com/file/3674/2025%2006%2024_Board%20Packet.pdf

I don’t remember FOIAing expenses since 2016 when I learned 5 employees feasted in San Francisco: https://blnnews.com/2016/11/14/connect-transit-spending-theft/

I figured it was time. I filed a FOIA for receipts. Expenses for trips to Texas, Atlanta, DC, and Forsyth were included. Yes, Forsyth Il:

From Leroy this trip is about 45 minutes. Mancil was attending a procurement course.

Below are my picks for best receipts, snacks at airports are included – including Bloomington:

Complete list of the $5861.95 charged:

  1. Hey losing a million and half dollars a month makes a person hungry.
A good meal on the taxpayers dime is the only way to make me feel better!!!

  2. A 20 minute drive to Leroy and the dude needs a hotel?!? Gimme a break! When I have business in Bloomington and hotels are full, I typically stay in Lincoln a good 30 minutes out and I’m happy to be that close. These people are pathetic.

  3. When I would eat on the company’s dime, I would remember that my goal was not to be Scott Preston or Chris Koos or any of these other folks who live large when it’s someone else’s money. If those are their normal eating habits, it seems we are paying way too much to public sector workers who claim their golden retirements and almost certain job security are the offset of making less than the private sector. Let’s be honest, that argument doesn’t really hold water anymore.

We need to see more McDonald’s or swinging by a grocery store than spending large and adding treats on top of it.
