The story below is the most comprehensive one I’ve seen. Mayors from more than two Illinois cities are headed to Rome on diplomatic mission that includes meeting with the Pope. Maybe Koos and Brady can give everyone a report on what they accomplished – other than site-seeing. What happened to separation of church and state?
I can’t find where Bloomington paid the Illinois Municipal League (IML) for the trip, but I did find Normal’s payment. I’m pretty sure Bloomington will be paying the same.

.
IML is a lobbyists representing cities in Illinois in Springfield. They have nothing on their website about this trip or why they organized it. https://www.iml.org/
Illinois is led by people who lay in bed at night, dreaming up ways to spend tax dollars on questionable (if not worthless) ideology.
I know of 2 more people who moved out state from McLean County last weekend. At least one pension went with them. The exodus continues.

According to this article, the Bloomingdale mayor wanted people to know that his trip was not being paid for by taxpayer funds. https://www.dailyherald.com/20260328/news/suburban-mayors-traveling-to-the-vatican-this-week-to-meet-native-son-pope-leo-xiv/
This is what he posted on his facebook-
I am honored to be part of the Illinois Municipal League’s Public Diplomacy Mission, Papal Visit and Cultural Exchange. The highlight of the trip will be our audience with His Holiness Pope Leo XIV! We will also meet with Ambassador Brian Burch at the US Embassy. I will carry best wishes from the Village of Bloomingdale!
(not paid with taxpayer funds for those ready to blast out a comment)
But Bloomington and Normal are special and get to pay for their mayors “working” vacations.
Was he the guy taking his son?
Noticeable shift recently by the left as well as progressives posing as Republicans suddenly becoming believers.
Be wary of these wolves.
Spending our taxpayer dollars for useless IL (aka “hell”) city mayors to visit Rome… and a pope?? How?? Why??
This is so wrong. Grrr…
No word on whether Koos will be consulting with papal engineers on building the holy Uptown underpass…
What a strange change of pace from the previous weeks of pro-Islamic declarations.
