The Code of Ethics was just passed on May 26, 2026 by the Bloomington city Council. Less than 1 month ago.
Monday night Abby Scott violated it. I suspect she will again at the July Committee of the Whole meeting where her lack of respect for fellow alderman Sheila Montney will likely continue.

Did you notice Beirne forgot to mention Abby Scott is his wife?
Keep in mind Scott was also one of the Council members who broke City Code by campaigning as a democrat partisan in a nonpartisan election.
When the Code of Ethics was presented to the Council on May 18th at a Committee of the Whole meeting, Abby Scott was the first to jump in and state she was all for it and the chance to express our values to the community. See that comment here:

Looks to me like she violated Point #7 and likey #1 since activism is how Scott and Beirne govern. The spirit and letter of the law are meaningless when their leftist agenda is more important. Of course there are no consequences for being a classless jerk other than losing elections. Voters in County District 10 can toss Beirne this November.
Tari Renner was censured for comments he made. The same should happen to Scott and Beirne or the Code of Ethics is already trash. Some elected officials aren’t capable of: The Council shall self-regulate adherence to the Code.
They suck.
This is Corney’s pitch – His poor wife was shut down in the council meeting asking simple questions. Sheila Montney is trying to hide information from the citizens and she is not attending meetings.
Sadly his supporters have taken the bait and are chomping at the bit to go vote.
In today’s world , that’s how you win elections unfortunately. Beirne and Scott are unethical to the core and will say anything to get their voting bases riled up. Works for them but i doubt they sleep well at night.
