WGLT is reporting the Town of Normal doesn’t appreciate homeless people in Uptown. Wait until the underpass is finished and they move in under it.
One problem: How are they getting around this? Of course Normal has been known just get a law passed to exempt themselves. Chung and Koehler will help them do it.
40 million dollar underpass will soon be year round living facility for the homeless! Unless Krystle and all her friends want to take them in?
Normal wants to send the homeless to Bloomington.
Shame on Kathleen!! She is employed at Home Sweet Home Ministries. Donations & grant money (taxes) pay her salary.
The homeless will have to keep their heads up as the people on bicycles will be screaming through the tunnel. If anyone believes that people riding their bikes on the trail will get off and walk them through the tunnel I have a bridge or maybe a tunnel to sell you.
The socialist Koos administration has allowed the homeless to take over the Amtrak station and round about to the point that people have elected not to attend events in Uptown Normal. Same for the new development just completed in downtown Bloomington. The political class has no backbone except to increase taxes on the little people to subsidize this farce.
If not for dirty, rotten, thieving politians there would be a lot less homeless people. Let the Town of Normal and especially commie king chris koos eat cake.
The leftist elites and their academic allies, socialist/commie enforcers, and billionaire masters create these “homelessness/housing crisis” scenarios and then swoop in to solve the problems with government created or manifested superpowers.
One symptom of their failures however, is the presence of actual human beings suffering from mental health issues, drug addiction, economic downturn, and a magnitude of issues that placed them in such situations that now that mayor Koos and his fellow allies of elected city “nonpartisan” Democrat/socialist officials, city administration (Pam), department heads and management, and even some of the smug staff just don’t want to admit that they failed the city. So now it’s time to use the resources and powers of their offices to remove any potential “eyesore” that might be causing their investor buddies to whisper while enjoying their organic lunches and drinks uptown, while contemplating their future wealth and investments after the underpass is completed.
So now they want to ban citizens that appear, somehow, to be “vagrants”, homeless, or otherwise “less then desirable” from public property under the guise of “camping”. Versus simply, existing, surviving, and living with few other options as free citizens.
Wonder what would happen if a business owner and taxpayer, happened to be on their way home on foot while wearing some dirty work clothes that were used to clean rotten “bean mill” from ADM out of some rail cars a dozen 40’ containers that happened to get wet, sat in the sun and moldy. Then this business owner got thirsty and stopped at the Normal train station to cool off and get a soda for a bit. Sure would hate for something to happen and a civil rights violation occur. Costing the city a large lawsuit.
Oh my gosh I wish that I had a solution for the homeless, kudos to home sweet home for building all those shelters for the homeless. My first thought is that nothing in this life is free a person should work to feed themselves.So providing free housing and food to those homeless people provides what? You hear many thoughts about the homeless, they choose that lifestyle, they are hooked on drugs, they are hooked on alcohol,and yes some through no fault of their own are homeless. So you hear a lot of thoughts that these homeless people need professional counseling. But in the meantime what about the businesses that are located in the area of the homeless camp. Gondolas closed partly due to the homeless bringing theft to their business talk to the convenient mart across the street from gondolas ask the employees there how bad the homeless across the street are negatively affecting their business. I don’t point out these negative problems brought on by the large amount of homeless population in a confined area but the presence of this large amount of homeless people affects the businesses close by. So what is the fix? As I said earlier I don’t have a fix but I will emphasize that nothing is free in life and if you want to to even begin to fix the homeless problem nothing is free the first solution is if you are hungry you work otherwise find a place miles away from businesses where people are working to live and house these homeless people where they have to work to eat.
HSH used tax dollars and likely more to keep operating. If you build it they will come, and are.
As a friend of mine says, ‘The safety net has become a comfy hammock’. That reduces the incentive for the disadvantaged to work, and meanwhile minimum age laws make it Illegal for them to work their way out of poverty unless their usually unskilled, often unreliable labor is worth more than whatever the legal ‘bottom rung of the financial ladder’ is these days.
