Updates: Fireworks didn’t end on July 4th – See Tonight

Home Sweet Home Mission wants Normal to pull this. I bet it happens. Approving Trail East and West construction could be interesting. Just not to me.

Decisions, decisions. Watch Bloomington at 6:00 and Normal at 7:00?

Normal thinks they can regulate the homeless out of Uptown Station: See PDF page 78: https://www.normalil.gov/ArchiveCenter/ViewFile/Item/5641

This is on the Consent Agenda so some Trustee will have to pull it for discussion. That will happen after what could be a long line of far leftists showing up for Public Comment. Housing is a Human Right – according to them. They weren’t listening to any readings of the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence. The country was founded on Rights come from GOD: Life Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness. Housing wasn’t listed, neither was healthcare or free food. Rights granted by government can disappear when the next ruling party takes over.

The leftist State of Illinois agrees with them. https://blnnews.com/2026/07/18/uptown-homeless/

Have you noticed the ruling party picks their favorites and charges the rest of us to take care of them? The hard working citizens still pay taxes on tips and overtime because Illinois rejected the Big Beautiful Bill provisions citizens of other states now enjoy. Add Illinois hasn’t signed up for the federal tax-credit scholarship program either. Teachers unions are on the favorites list, kids aren’t.

I wonder if this will magically be removed from the agenda before the meeting?

Bloomington:

Remember the Ammons arrests? https://www.wandtv.com/news/state-rep-carol-ammons-aaron-ammons-indicted-on-federal-fraud-obstruction-charges/article_7c270c08-5b7d-4384-b04c-27e912bd1cab.html

Part of the charges include funneling tax dollars to NGO’s and getting kickbacks. How is this being prevented here since results are hard to measure? Mental illness hasn’t disappeared, is it better? Will some Council members mention NGO’s they want funded?

Double free admission entertainment! 🥶

  1. There is never real accountability for government grants and programs, simple because of incentives. If a NGO or government program actually works, and by works I mean it improves upon and achieves the previously defined and tracked metrics of success (assuming they are even defined), then the program will naturally decline in funding and go away, as it’s useful purpose was already accomplished.

However, it they can never accomplish their purpose or it worsens (i.e., war on poverty, which by definition can never go away, there will always be a lowest 10% of income earners on a Bell Curve), this only justifies the moral outrage and toxic empathy further, such that spending and grants must increase to tackle the “worsening” crisis. Furthermore, the dependent class of government workers, NGO staff, and citizens now have a selfish financial reason to oppose a cut, and in fact demand more money, which evolves into a permanent allocation for perpetuity. The program/spending/grand has become a sacred cow, worshiped by a very vocal and passionate minority.

  2. Is Sheila Montney’s report tonight the one that Abby Beirne-Scott harangued Sheila over? Abby demanded that Montney answer questions about the subject when the subject was not on the agenda, if I remember right. Sheila was concerned about the Open Meetings Act.

If correct, the same exchange became a post on her husband Corey Beirne-Scott’s public Facebook page. He also attacked Mrs Montney about not answering his wife’s questions and missing a meeting (Sheila actually did answer a couple of questions after approval by the city’s lawyer).

And then when I asked a few questions about the exchange on Corey Beirne-Scott’s post he scrubbed some of the exchange and blocked me from his public site.

  3. I already know I’ll be attacked as a pinko left-wing extremist, but it pains me when folks beat the drum of a Declaration of Independence signed by multiple owners of humans as property, than ballyhoo about the GOD-given rights of “Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness (footnote exception…except for our slaves, of course)

Also love the oozing Christian compassion for the homeless (most likely U.S. citizens, a significant amount of those mentally-ill) – oh, and let’s just sneak in a teacher union bash in there for good measure.

Believe it or not, I am all about Border Security, devoutly pro-life; but I can already feel the dismissive vitriol headed my way for the pedophile, contrived conspiracy-divulging, Zionist, warmongering, elitist Commander-in-Chief lemmings coming my way.

  4. Add to that there was a war fought that ended up abolishing slavery, I believe the president then was the first republican. Then those individuals of the Democrat persuasion not all but some, KKK and Jim crow ideology tried their best to keep the black population down but thank goodness there were enough white Christian many republicans that worked together to pass laws that supported our black brothers and sisters. We may not be a perfect country but many have certainly worked tirelessly to keep history from repeating itself.
I emphasize the word work nothing is free in this life if you are hungry you need to work to eat!
