Only one Public Comment at last night’s Bloomington Committee of the Whole – Surena Fish. She spoke on a couple issues but the big one is downtown becoming more dangerous because addicts and vagrants aren’t afraid of consequences for their behavior. You can listen to her at 16:30.
The Special Commission for Safe Communities chair Scott Denton gave a presentation on their progress. You can see his slide show starting at 21:15. The Commission is charged with the below – from the video:

The slide at 23:10 shows the average age of shooters is 22, victim’s average age is 18. Another slide has a Chicago stat: 74% of FOID card violators never turn in their guns. The slide at 1:14:30 has Bloomington’s disastrous gun buy back safe giveaway program. Evidently this commission thought they were a good thing. In case you forgot:

Mollie Ward who is responsible for the formation of this commission, spoke at length. It took her awhile to get to the point, but her home was hit by stray gunfire in last Friday’s shooting around Madison and Graham streets. Of course she was traumatized by a bullet breaking the glass in her front door with her family relaxing inside. She ended with demanding the Council do something.

It doesn’t take a commission to know the reasons young men shoot each other. Mollie Ward expects a magic cure with unarmed police. A sick society can’t be fixed by the council.

Guns are not violent. Just as knives, fists, or bats are not violent. The scum bag criminal people are violent. It doesn’t matter what weapon they use. The person with the weapon is violent.
The constant drumbeat of, “gun violence,” is the leftists incrementally getting people used to the phrase and brainwashed to believe guns are violent.
The statistics presented indicate shootings are done by youth, who have no impulse control, playing with guns.
We need a common-sense “asses in jail” policy to stop this. Until the serious under incarceration of criminal halfwits is rectified, they will continue to run wild.
