Was your last Ameren bill high?

By: Diane Benjamin

I’m seeing lots of posts on social media like this one:

Rent is becoming unaffordable: https://www.centralillinoisproud.com/news/local-news/rent-is-becoming-unaffordable-to-illinoisan-according-to-new-report/

Water rates in Bloomington have now increased 66% in less than 2 years. Next May 1st the 100% increase will be in effect to fund “generational investment”: https://www.bloomingtonil.gov/departments/water/resident-community/water-rate-increase-and-capital-project-updates

Items on the same Bloomington bill, like garbage, will increase another 3% a year automatically because it’s much more fun to have automatic increases than an actual vote.

Sales tax went up 1% because the people who bothered to vote (few) last April 1st approved it.

Property tax assessments skyrocketed again. All those local units of government mostly seize whatever they can, so expect property tax bills to increase too.

How much did Ameren rates increase?

The below is from a friend with a brand new whole house air conditioner and a small house:

Before you believe Climate Change is killing you, my Weather Channel app says today’s high temp will be a gorgeous 76 degrees. That is WAY below the high temp recorded for August 3rd:

I did some calculations on what my friends bill was last month to this bill.

Usage was 77.92% higher. 10.28 vrs 18.29 kwh

This bill total is 107.59% higher than last month. $67.98 vrs $141.12

Obviously the rate increased a lot.

Why?

Because the people who believe the Climate Change hoax run Illinois. McLean County will get more solar farms. If food becomes scarce, you will know who to blame for requiring them on prime farmland.

Quit voting for progressives. They aren’t for progress.

  1. What is Ameren’s rate per KWH after taxes are included? Just for giggles, I live in Alabama and get power from a small co-op. Our after tax rate is 13.4 cents/KWH. We used a ton of power in July, 2010 KWH and our bill was 269.40, taxes included

  2. I know of a local restaruant that had an Ameren bill $2500.00 higher than it had ever been before. Add that to current inflation levels, higher mnimum wage etc., you think that’s not going to be passed on to the consumers?

  3. Diane, having left Illinois, I rarely take the time to see what’s going on. I was stunned to see this post.
    Where I live:
    . no sales tax,
. property taxes are 1/4 what I paid in IL, and lowered property tax just signed into law,
. no taxes on utility bills,
. and an honest, no-gimmicks state budget surplus.
The tragedy is local and state liberal democrats and their self-important, arrogant elitist friends, and RINOs have ruined IL, and there’s no changing that now. It’s just Titanic deck chairs.
I feel sorry for friends there.

On a side note, just when I thought Pritzker had exhausted every way to bring illegals into IL, I see he’s now found a way to import illegal Texas Democrats.

  4. I got my bill of $363.42 today for 1594 kWh which is 22.7 cents. The highest I have ever seen any bill.

It’s like I told someone else you drive by these windfarms and many of them are stopped. While I am sure some may need servicing but there is no reason for high rates if the power production is available.

Someone I know told me their bill was $30 with solar panels but my gawd the price of the panels was $17,000. Why it would be 25+ years before those panels would be paid off and by then no telling if they even would be working anymore.
