BEC Isn’t Nonpartisan, Diana Hauman is a Commissioner

By: Diane Benjamin

If you missed it, see yesterday’s story on the League of Women voters: https://blnnews.com/2026/05/04/uncovering-the-truth-about-mclean-county-elections/

1)

Diana Hauman spoke at a Bloomington Council meeting last August on behalf of the “nonpartisan” League of Women Voters that isn’t actually nonpartisan. Is Hauman still a League member? Is she pushing for Rank Choice Voting? The League report will likely say all elections in McLean County should be handled by an unelected and unaccountable Commission. Maybe Hauman can be the spokesman!

2)

Diana Hauman is a Commissioner on the 3 person Bloomington Election Commission Board that claims to be nonpartisan:

3)

Diana Hauman also used to serve on the Bloomington City Council, supposedly nonpartisan, and even had a failed attempt running for mayor.

Let’s summarize:

Diana Hauman served with the League of Women Voters, the Bloomington Election Commission, the Bloomington City Council – all claim to be nonpartisan.

I wonder how Diana Hauman can claim to be nonpartisan and still post these on her Facebook page? h/t a reader

Corey Beirne is a FAR left Democrat running for reelection to the McLean County Board while also being a Unit 5 teacher who stated if teaching sex to kids was banned – he would do it anyway. Libs of TikTok featured him: https://blnnews.com/2025/10/17/libs-of-tiktok-featured-corey-beirne-yesterday/

Think the FBI would be interested in this one?

Diana Hauman broke at least 2 of the rules for claiming to be nonpartisan, but her ideology completely changes while making decisions for BEC? Sure.

We know the Bloomington City Council isn’t nonpartisan after Cody Hendricks, Jenna Kearns, and Abby Scott (Corey Berine’s wife) broke the rules and faced no consequences.

The League of Women Voters isn’t nonpartisan.

The Bloomington Election Commission isn’t nonpartisan when one of three commissioners isn’t.

Diana Hauman should resign from the BEC Board. She of course won’t.

  1. Wow, Hauman posted that the day before the third assassination attempt on the president. I wonder how she REALLY feels. Embarrassing she sits in a board overseeing my right to vote.

  2. Diana Hauman is a Leftist Progressive Marxist. The evidence just speaks for itself.

  3. Why would anyone in BN care what those old bags thought about anything? All of them never had gainful employment and just want to be part of something that makes them feel important. Everyone with a brain knew they were leftists and a couple more fence riding RINOs. It just like Julie Dobski sniffing John Penn’s backside from the Laborers Hall. Same garbage, different day.

  4. All of this makes me sick. Diane, I read your emails every day, and I get discouraged and angry every time. No one seems to care (in fact, they encourage) breaking the law. The people who could make a difference don’t bother to vote because they know the Dems will make it so Republicans never win. I’m so done with Illinois.

      1. no , i’m asking which Judge or Mayor actually appointed her to the commission ?
        her application should be FOIA’d.

letting a partisan activist like Hauman on the Election Commision is a scam.

Her appointment must be recalled , voided , rescinded , whatever it takes to remove her as this woman is not fit for ANY position the requires fairness and impartiality.

  5. Well you see, when you make your (Republican) political platform about attacking democracy, you can’t fairly criticize pro democracy groups for being politically motivated when they stand up for democracy. You’re just being a crybully. You live in a fantasy world where you are the hero and entitled to do anything to anyone and it’s unfair for them to oppose you. And it’s disgusting.
