Who Could Have Seen This Coming Other Than Everyone?

By: Diane Benjamin

In 2025, the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) lowered the test-score thresholds required for students to be classified as proficient in English and Mathematics.

Duh, lower proficiency standards magically raises scores.

This guy is taking credit:

Here’s what is really happening, Illinois Public Schools have been failing to educate for many years. Scores were failing BEFORE COVID and have only gotten worse.

Look up the School Report Card yourself: https://www.illinoisreportcard.com/

These two ratings show the truth:

Unit 5:

District 87:

This one is worse. It shows the how many students that want to go on to college first have to learn everything their public school didn’t teach them. Both districts show WORSE than the State average overall:

Unit 5:

District 87:

All it took to close the border was a new president that cared.

Pubic Schools will continue to fail as long as democrats are running them. Just the facts. Enjoy your higher property taxes next year.

  1. Unfortunately, many low IQ voters believe JB’s proclamations. MSM/SM are good at repeating his jibber-jabber.

  2. I noticed that Corey Beirne, (of course) and Weikle are both crowing about it. The ISBE and the teachers Union are bragging about how wonderful it is. WGLT wrote a fable about it and neglected the fact that a major part of the improvement was due to lower standards, so everyone passes.

    Who suffers –
Students who are graduating without the knowledge to progress to the next level.
Taxpayers that pump their hard-earned pay into a failing education system that continually asks for more.
Parents that scrimp and save to send their kids to college, but when they get there, they must pay for their kids to start high school over again.
Our communities end up supporting uneducated and angry adults.

This is what Equity is. The ultimate equality of outcome in its most repulsive form. They lowered the standards just to make themselves look and feel good no matter who else suffers. Don’t buy the marketing.

  3. Meanwhile enrollment dropped in both districts for the 10th year in a row, double digit percentage drops over that time. Spending and taxes up 45% since 2018. Oh yes, and the report card doesn’t have data going past 2021, an intentional choice IMO to hide how much better schools used to be before JB got elected.

And D87 is taking a victory lap on their graduation rate improvement, however no mention in the news about how last year the school board lowered graduation standards for transfer and ESL students(who have gone up 2x since COVID/sanctuary state/Biden open borders).
