3 Things you need to know

We now have proof Unit 5 teaches kids what to think, not how to think. Follow-up to this story: https://blnnews.com/2022/05/04/normal-your-taxes-funded-this/

Doug Fansler sent a video of a Ted Talk to Chemberly Cummings after her Youth on a Mission promoted EV’s without considering all sides. The students obviously didn’t look for facts that didn’t support their presentation. Cummings’ leadership did nothing to teach them how to research. This project was a waste of taxpayer money and doesn’t bode well for the student’s futures if ideology makes decisions instead of facts. Below is Chemberly’s response:

The Ted Talk is: The Contradictions of Battery Operated Vehicles. Watch it here: https://youtu.be/S1E8SQde5rk

A reader sent me pictures of O’Neil Park. Old trees didn’t fit the plan for the almost $15,000,000 water park that will only be open a few months a year:

A couple of additional notes from Monday’s Bloomington Council meeting:

No Julie, the Community Soccer Fields did not have to move because of any danger. That should have been obvious since the lease was extended numerous times. It was so dangerous the kids got to play on the fields for years?

  • City Manager Tim Gleason called the White Elephant “Coliseum”. That means the naming rights with Grossinger Motors Arena have expired. I wonder how long the signs will remain and how much it will cost to replace them? The City has received (and now forfeits) $175,000 a year. See this 2017 story: https://blnnews.com/2017/06/22/coliseum-promises-promises/
  • If you didn’t watch the presentation by Police Chief Simington, at least 23% of their calls are for mental health issues that don’t involve violence. Coming soon is a 988 call system that will provide services that don’t involve sending the police to calls.

  1. Wondering who checked Chemberly’s grammar. “…and made sure they appropriately sited their sources.”
