Normal is following the PLAN

By:  Diane Benjamin

Town of Normal for tonight:   http://www.normal.org/ArchiveCenter/ViewFile/Item/3094

Just to prove what I wrote in this story:   https://blnnews.com/2018/10/15/why-bloomington-normal-is-doomed/

Completing the Circle is in the plan, therefore it must be done:

Bills for approval:

These don’t need an explanation, note the Sports Complex is still alive.  How did they ever do FOIA requests before spending $15,300?

This payment brings the total to $348,389.08 trying to get a Tiger Grant just since May   https://blnnews.com/2018/09/17/normals-short-meeting-again/

Cardinal got $6000 from Connect Transit in August. Living off government?https://blnnews.com/2018/10/08/thud-connect-transit/

  1. I see BikesBlowNow got $2500 for saftey awareness.
Diane you should get $25,000 for jerks in government awareness.

  2. They seem to like to eat a lot with the taxpayers money? If is is not a lunch, it’s a dinner… it’s cookies…it’s mugs and T-shirts and hats and of course lots of consulting for this and that…

Now is spite of what Tella Tubby President Dietz thinks… and the fact that Normal has bet everything on the ISU cash cows continuing to graze in Upscale Normal for the foreseeable future…here is a dose of reality:

“Google, Apple and 12 other companies that no longer require employees to have a college degree”

    https://www.cnbc.com/2018/08/16/15-companies-that-no-longer-require-employees-to-have-a-college-degree.html?__source=facebook%7Cmain

Looks like the cash cow (ISU) is going to turn into a property looking for a use in the not to distant future… so much for a Master Plan that goes out to 2040? Seriously, does anyone really expect students to be herding into classrooms in the year 2040?

Normal has bet everything on everything staying the same with ISU. Higher education will start a shake out soon that will begin with small private colleges. Higher education will be the next casualty of technological disruption. Ten years ago who would have thought Sears would be gone today? No one… The same thing is going to happen to higher education. Mass closings…. layoffs…. and empty campuses!

  3. Wonder what the Town got for $2,500 to Bike BloNo. That’s a lot of money for bike safety awareness. Pretty sure some free videos on YouTube would be much more effective and well-delivered. But, of course, Mike McCurdy and his big government pals need more of our tax dollars to fund their shakedown of local government and bullying of people that dare question the wisdom of creating bike paths and narrowing roads for 0.000000001% of the population to use 5 months out of the year.

  4. How very appropriate for Normal to have a roundabout (circle) The whole future of Normal and Bloomington for that matter is one great big roundabout ! Round and round we go. Where we stop(spending) nobody knows!

  5. NOTHING would be more amusing and totally asinine then to have 5 or 6 building around “PUCHUCK CIRCLE” and have them TOTALLY surrounded by bike lanes and ALL EMPTY. Then we could call it the Koos Kollosus Circle Jerks”
And the study that was done in 2003 just SHOWS that the UPTOWN IDIOTS are unable to make any sensible change in 15 years!
