Update: 3 Things You Need to Know

See #2. Sharon Chung thinks Illinois corruption is over. She’s funny: https://www.nprillinois.org/illinois/2025-02-13/central-illinois-lawmakers-react-to-former-house-speaker-madigans-guilty-verdict

Continuation of this story: https://blnnews.com/2025/02/13/unit-5-staff-only-meetings-1-sales-tax/

Video of the “staff only” meetings concerning the 1% Salters Tax increase will not exist. I received the response below to that part of a FOIA request:

Diane,

There are no public records responsive to your request.

We will periodically host “staff-only” presentations on various topics, as we did during COVID and the Education Fund Referendum. These give staff members the opportunity to ask questions related to the topic and its impact on them.  In the past, some of these sessions were held in person, while others were virtual. This time, we have chosen to conduct them virtually for staff.

These presentations will mirror those shared at community meetings, but to accommodate different school schedules, we are offering multiple meeting times for added flexibility. Staff members are, of course, always welcome to attend the community meetings as well.

Thanks,

M. Curt Richardson

Attorney for the District

If the meetings are pretty much the same for the public and staff, why waste everyone’s time having separate meetings? Anyone else think they won’t be the same? Video would prove why, Unit 5 refuses to record.

This isn’t the first time Unit 5 has refused to hit the RECORD button for on line trainings. Remember when Dr. Shelvin was training the DEI trainers? https://blnnews.com/2022/03/11/unit-5-dr-shelvin-and-the-cost-of-equity/

As a convicted felon Mike Madigan has lost his State pension. Have you heard any Democrats celebrate the end of his corruption? Say they are happy to be rid of him? Move to make sure another Madigan can never exist?

Never forget it was the Federal Government that prosecuted him, nobody in the State of Illinois did.

I find the WGLT story hilarious: https://www.wglt.org/local-news/2025-02-13/town-of-normal-touting-results-of-second-biannual-community-survey?utm_source=dlvr.it&utm_medium=facebook

Using WGLT’s numbers:

502 people responded to the Normal survey. The population of Normal is 52,618. That means less than 1% of citizens participated.

It gets better. The story claimed last year 421 people participated.

It now gets far better! Each year the survey cost the citizens of Normal around $8000.

That means last year every vote cost $19.

This year each vote was down to $16.

The Town of Normal is claiming the less than 1% who voted like living in Normal. The survey ran for 3 months. They should be embarrassed by the response rate, but that doesn’t fit the agenda.

  1. Another meaningless (and costly) survey. How many of the 502 responses were council members and town employees and their families?
Another $8,000 spent only to support and promote their agenda.

  2. Responding to the School meetings, as you reported their response, this is a duplication of the open meeting. So why duplicate just for the staff at taxpayer expense? If they intend to spend the extra resources, I demand they open it up to every taxpayer and citizen of the District.

This sounds like they are hiding something from the public by having a closed door “Informational” session.

Transparency should always be the first thought.

  3. Did you know that the superintendent of D87 sent out an email advising parents on how to vote on the new tax…..is that even legal?
